Helluva factoid from Marc Weiszer:
The Bulldogs haven’t had to replace their entire defensive staff since Dooley replaced Johnny Griffith.
Dooley did okay with his DC hire then. Here’s hoping for a little history repeating.

If this isn’t a quintessential moment from this year’s NCAA convention, I don’t know what is.
Interestingly, a previously bland Q&A session didn’t truly heat up until moderator Jean Frankel, the NCAA’s outside management consultant (think “the Bobs” from Office Space), showed a slide entitled “NCAA Core Values” (page 14), first adopted in 2004. She’d made a seemingly innocuous remark about the need to reevaluate the list annually, to which someone replied, astutely, they aren’t core values if you change them every year.
To paraphrase one of Charlie Pierce’s pet expressions, this is your NCAA, folks. Cherish it.

Chip Towers reports that Chris Wilson may be having second thoughts about joining the staff at Southern Cal. That would be fine by me.

UPDATE: Not so fast, my friend.

UPDATE #2:
Sounds pretty gone to me.

I’m sure this is going to end in tears for all concerned.
One day we’re going to look back at how Georgia responded to the NCAA’s investigation of AJ Green and his jersey and think “how quaint”.
Or “chumps”.

This jumped into my head as I was composing the header for the prior post. From Eat A Peach, one of my favorite Allman Brothers songs:
Don’t have anything particularly profound to add here. Except: what a band.

Boy, Jeremy Pruitt’s getting out of the blocks pretty dang fast on the recruiting front.
Nashville, Tenn., defensive back Rico McGraw committed to Pruitt and the Bulldogs Thursday night.
“Officially committed to the University of Georgia! Thank everyone who’s been involved and supporting me,” he tweeted Thursday night.
McGraw is considered the top 2015 prospect in Tennessee and one of the top 100 players in the country, according to Scout.com. McGraw got the offer from the Bulldogs on Wednesday.
That didn’t take long. Now they’ve just got to hold on to the kid for another year. You have to figure that UT will be pushing Willie Martinez at him hard. Okay, well…
