I hate to break it to you so early on a Saturday morning but all those shows like pawn stars etc… are all scripted and fake.
      Just like Junior.

Hate to break it to you but I met Phil and Jas back in the 90s at a buck-a-rama type event in NC, Phil had the beard and both were laid back county guys who loved to duck hunt, Phil was a guest speaker and spoke for about 2 hours about duck hunting, family and his religion. The show may be scripted but their sincere about their beliefs.
FWIW – Jas was beardless then, told me he grew it for duck season so he wouldn’t have to wear as much camo face paint.

Biggest jokes on tv….and that is saying a lot. They have milked the commercial teet entirely too much.
I am ready for this fad to be over.

relax. I’m sure there’s a Golden Girls marathon on Lifetime you can watch instead. If you don’t care about Duck Dynasty, nobody’s making you watch, or buy the gear.

I’m not sure what point you (or the author of that story) are trying to make. What reasonably intelligent person thinks Duck Dynasty and other “reality” shows aren’t scripted? What reasonably intelligent person believes the men in the show have had those beards every minute of their adult lives? What reasonably intelligent person believes the network and stars aren’t milking the enterprise for all its worth – just like the networks and stars of every other faddish “reality” show?

The bottom line is this: Does the show entertain you or not? Do you agree with the values espoused on the show or not? If you don’t like the show, that’s perfectly fine. But don’t post a link to an article “exposing” the show as being scripted and think that makes you look particularly insightful.

Gravity, you are spot on. Reasonably intelligent people are not watching this show. It is for mouth breathers and people who simply think they are wonderful people for praying at the end. It falls in line with that crap like the Kardashians. I share some of their beliefs but I don’t support a tv show simply because I share the same beliefs. I love Breaking Bad but I sure as hell ain’t making crystal meth.

Somebody give Junior a wad of Red Man and tell him to swallow the juice.

Damn, I did that one time playing baseball in HS, sickness was nearly as bad as my kidney stone experience this past year. Powerful memory, you can bet no loose tobacco every went in my mouth again. Was my own fault as a novice but and I knew you weren’t supposed to swallow something, I decided that was the tobacco itself. Why chew if you don’t swallow the juice? Figured it was like bubble gum, don’t swallow the gum. Experience is the best teacher.

Hope no one tells Junior, he needs to learn that life lesson on his own since he has to teach young men.

I have two very vivid memories. One in high school where I got my first ever dip, I was so damn light headed I didn’t think I would make it back to the gym. The second, I was on a watch post in Gitmo. smoking on post was taboo so we were more discrete with dip. Copenhagen in a plastic can (so it can be shipped overseas) is some powerful stuff man.

I had never heard of the show until we went to West Monroe for a horse show this past summer. (We don’t get that channel.) We stopped by the headquarters to get my sister a t-shirt and it was like we were at the Blue Willow during its hey-day.

Not two weeks later, I walked into a Barnes & Noble bookstore and – lo and behold! – there was a display of DD stuff right at the entrance.

    I don’t get it …

I am bored, Lady Friend had surgery and is still in the hospital and I have been rattling around this house by myself for days. I have a little work to do and am going to see her later this afternoon. Then I have all night to myself. A bored Shane by himself on a Saturday night is an incendet waiting to happen. Then again, I haven’t ‘effed up in a long time, I may be due,or I could stay at home and troll the Tech blogs for suckers. What do ya’ll think?

Reminds me of a fool I worked with in my college days, a guy from NY or NJ. About half our co-workers were black. This (white) guy thought he’d try to fit in, I guess, by throwing around the “n” word to the other white guys–a couple of whom (including me) shut his ass down immediately. He was gone within a week. Not trying to start an anti-Yankee thing here–I’m married to a great NY girl and don’t care where you’re from if you act right. My point is that some non-Southerners try too hard to act “good ol’ boy” and reveal their own lack of character. So it is with Junior.
