You gotta hand it to ol’ Mack. He’s retired as head coach, but is still drawing a paycheck from the school as a special advisor to the president. But the prez isn’t the only one getting friendly advice.
Those facts make the conversation between four-star safety recruit John Bonney — a long-time Texas commitment — and Houston ABC station KTRK all the more potentially awkward. In this video, Bonney says that Brown told recruits visiting during the same weekend Brown resigned they should “look around” before signing with the Longhorns…
The complete quote from Bonney:
I was at my official visit when Mack Brown resigned and he told us to go look around. [He said] he’ll even talk to other coaches for you and everything because he really just wanted the best for us as players.
That’s right nice of the man. Although I doubt Charlie Strong agrees.
Boy, imagine what Mack would be telling the kids if he wasn’t on the UT payroll.
He may not be on the payroll much longer if he’s doing that.

Not only the obvious, but does the NCAA allow a person in Brown’s situation to have contact with a recruit?

Didn’t know Mack made buses, only thought they made semi trucks. Learn something everyday on this informative website.

Do we know, for a fact, that this hasn’t been a part of his schtick all along? I can almost see it, “You should look around, go to Lubbuck and Waco and Stillwater. If you like to there, that’s where you need to be”.

It sounds even better in the original German
