Former Georgia players, the good luck charms of the SEC:
Ty Flournoy-Smith, who was dismissed from UGA after getting into trouble a couple of times, committed to Alabama on Monday night.
Flournoy-Smith played this season at Georgia Military junior college and took an official visit to Alabama last weekend without a scholarship offer. He got a call from Nick Saban on Monday, and tweeted out his commitment to the Crimson Tide.
The best part of this tale is that Ole Miss couldn’t make room for him on the roster, but somehow Alabama could. That’s when you know you’re somebody special.
Get The Picture 
Imagine being an Alabama player and getting processed for either the armed robber who got back in or someone kicked out of another school for repeated bad behavior. Player feelings and well being don’t enter into the process.

Well, I guess since Alabama has now joined the ranks of schools who take our disciplinary castoffs, that means that Tide fans won’t be able to deride Richt for his “lack of control,” right? Right?

If all of the commits sign and qualify, Bama will have to lose (cut) at least 7 players before fall camp. And that’s only if they don’t get anyone else on signing day. I get leaving room for 2-3 losses in a given year, if that is generally your minimum attrition rate due to transfers for PT and academic losses, but 7-10 is ridiculous. Good times in Tuscaloosa.

Sooo…another UGA disciplinary castoff lands in the warm, welcoming arms of an SEC West team. I was under the impression that Bammer was going to have to use extraordinary “roster management” measures (even by Bammer standards) to wedge in the commitments they already had. I guess another current player just suffered a debilitating injury, huh?

Alabama doesn’t have to “make room” for anyone, that term doesn’t exist in the initial stages so that is never an issue. Roster management only takes place when they determine the number they have to cut after tryouts and then kick under the bus. Biggest issue is getting his picture taken and on the walls in police headquarters for all the Tusky cops to get familiar with before they screw up bt arresting him and making more “troubling” news. All part of the process.

This is the part that I can’t figure out why no one is writing about it, other than it doesn’t fit with the meme the media wants to use against Mark Richt: we do things different. There is no way on God’s green earth that we would sign a kid that had gotten kicked out of another SEC school. We just wouldn’t. That story hasn’t been written. LSU, Bammer, Auburn, Miss. State and the like seem to bring them on board in droves. To their credit, I don’t think Foley would let it happen in Gainesville either. What I’d like to see written is a story with the headline question: “Why is it okay for other schools to sign players that were kicked off the team at UGA for disciplinary reasons?” I’m all for second chances in life. There’s 120 some odd schools out there. I don’t think it’s unfair for us to have a conference or institutional rule that says you’re not allowed to sign with a conference member if you were dismissed from another conference member for academic or disciplinary measures.

Three players out of CCHS at Ole Miss. One signs today and two already on roster. Ty Flournoy-Smith would have been 4. Wants to go to Bama, okay. Go where they want to, but not many of us are going to keep on financially supporting high school teams when they players want to go out of state.

Don’t blame CMR for not wasting time on TF-L. He is a good player, but he is what we call “high maintenance”. Best to move on, find another player [and there are legions of them], and do not waste any more time and resources on them. Why put money in a high school program when they want to play out of state hundreds of miles away from “home”.

Grant would not qualify to get in to UGA. This has been a concern for a while, but CMR stuck with him and gave him a chance to get his grades up. When it looked like he wouldn’t, UGA made plan B. Plan B worked out, so Grant was told to explore other options. Big difference between that and br==eing processed.
