How do I know Georgia recruiting has failed?

Why, the AJ-C says so.

Remember that vaunted Lowndes-to-FSU pipeline that sort of died out when Josh Harvey-Clemons put on an UGA baseball camp?

That pipeline is flowing again after Lowndes High School linebacker Brian Bell committed to FSU over Clemson and UGA, although he didn’t have an offer yet from the Bulldogs.  [Emphasis added.]

There is so much epic troll packed into those two short sentences that all I can do is tip my cap in the presence of a master at work.

UPDATE:  In the interest of fairness, I want to mention that Carvell e-mailed me to let me know that “committed to FSU over Clemson and UGA” were Bell’s words, not his.

Yeah, how can you commit to one school over a second school if the second school hasn’t offered you a scholarship?

Yep, you nailed it Homer. The kid is a 3 star with offers from Cinci, Clemson, Louisville, and Tech. Just minor details Carvell left out.

  4. Time to put Carvell and Spurrier in a room and have a UGA troll-off. I might actually watch that!

I dont need him to pump UGA and tell me how great UGA is at everything, but he seems to go way out of the way to take shots at UGA. LIke he has some nit to pick with UGA over some transgression that the rest of us are not aware of.

  7. I don’t have as much animus toward the AJC’s columnists as a lot of folks, but there’s definitely an air of Finebaumesque bandwagoneering about them when it comes to the UGA-GT rivalry. To wit, when Georgia’s up, the Dawgs are the greatest thing since sliced bread and the Jackets are a pathetic second fiddle; when Tech has the upper hand in the rivalry, they’re on the cusp of bringing back the Dodd glory days and UGA is an underachieving hot mess.

Problem for them is, it’s been so long since the latter situation was in effect that they’re starting to get bored. Hence arbitrary, self-refuting potshot attempts like the one above.

Natrez Patrick, D’andre Walker, Roquan Smith…If UGA whiffs on all three of these guys then it is safe to say their recruiting has failed.

    • LOL. I thought he had turned over a bit of a new leaf, leading up to this last signing day, he seemed to be trolling a lot less than usual. Even went out of his way to say things like UGA shouldn’t worry about missing on Raekwon McMillan because he (Carvell) thought Detric Dukes is gonna end up being just as good, and he really sang praises about the commitment of Dominick Sanders on more than one occasion. He was more positive towards UGA than I’ve ever seen from him.

But I guess in the peak of recruiting season, you don’t have to troll for clicks. Now that clicks have slowed down, it’s back to the grind.

    • Considering his sources for the Richt is snowed in at Bryson Allen-Williams’ house was some random guy on a message board, I’d say Carvell is along the lines of Milli Vanilli.

Regarding the update, if only there were some way to let the reader know that you are writing a quote from someone, one day they will think of something.

For all the deserved criticism of the AJC’s “coverage” of Georgia, I might point out that this whole thread is an indication that what they are doing works.

I think it’s remarkable that both Creepy Carvell and Jackass Chuck Oliver read your blog. Just goes to show that you have relevant information to share with the Dawg faithful.
