Drinks are on the house!

Evidently the problem with the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party isn’t the cocktail part or the party part.  It’s the outdoor part.

Georgia-Florida had been known as the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” but the schools have cooled to that name in recent years due to excessive alcohol use on campus and CBS was asked in 2006 to stop referring to the game with that name.

The SEC allows private areas such as suites at games to serve alcohol. That is already done in Jacksonville.

Because it’s a proven fact that the rich handle their boozing better than the great unwashed do.  Must be something about their metabolism.

Hypocrisy smells like the St. John’s River.

“Championship games, they’ve been great for TV.”

I fear that deregulation is one of those words that’s not well served by being placed in scare quotes.

An inspiring story

Here’s what got Georgia and Florida in the mood to wear home jerseys in Jax this year:

The uniform change, according to Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley, came about after a Gators fan sent him a picture from a game during the 1960s. In the picture, Florida quarterback Steve Spurrier was being tackled by a Georgia player in a red jersey.

I hope it was a Stanfill sack.  Maybe they can show the play on the big screen during the game.

Mark Richt has lost control of Mark Fox.

It’s a good thing they weren’t playing Auburn last night.
