Today, in two Tweets

Really can’t think of a better way to sum up the day’s developments than with this:

Um… make that hiring Bruce Pearl.

And this.

True dat.

Absolutely. It is a perfect fit. Bruce Pearl wanted to be “wanted.'” At Auburn he is. We needed an energetic, charismatic coach to basically start up AU’s basketball program, not some mid major coach from B.F .Egypt. or Wisconsin Green Bay. Us long suffering basketball fans at Auburn love it. We may even rename the Auburn Arena “The Oyster”, the student section “The Oyster Bar”, and the main entrance “The Pearly Gates.” Jay Jacobs is the “Phoenix,” as he has hit 5 bottom of the ninth homers in his last 4 hires.( Women’s Basketball, Football, Baseball, Softball, and now Men’s Basketball). We are a happy bunch over here right now, and, as a bonus, the bammers are shocked, and mad as hell at Bill Battle. War Eagle!

Isn’t a national title what it’s all about and we haven’t had one in football in so long. Well other than our boys in swimming and tennis and our girls in gymnastics and equestrian. I hope I didn’t leave any of our other sports teams out?!?!

This is what pisses me off so much about the NCAA and the SEC. Auburn cheats with impunity at football and nothing ever happens to them. For that matter Bama cheated for years and got away with it. Our system rewards the cheaters. Now Auburn hires a renowned cheater to run the basketball program. When other schools see that cheating works, then they start to do it, too (I’m looking right at you Ole Miss). Disgusting.

“We are a happy bunch over here right now,”

That’s totally inappropriate. It’s lewd, lascivious, salacious, outrageous and cannot continue to stand. Plus I haven’t seen Jax this wound up since an earlier thread and I fear his blood pressure may not be within normal limits.

I am assuming that the good senator also noticed that the lead investigator for the Pearl/UT investigation is now the head of compliance at Auburn.

UGA is full of thugs and Auburn is making awesome hires.

Yes, and Didion had to “OK” the University to have talks to hire Pearl. Plus the hire was “OK”ed by the guy who saw that he was fired for lieing to him and other investigators while at the NCAA. Didion gives hypocrisy a hypocorism. Question is, which is lower; a Didion or a University of Didions?

Auburn continues to be the school where everyone else’s rejects find a home. They think it’s a cute strategy that will pay great dividends, but mark my words – they will rue the day they let all these vagabonds into their home. And we’ll all be laughing in their faces when that day comes.

Yeah, CD. I know an awful lot of Barners and they don’t give a damn about any of this ethics nonsense. They will never rue anything– if bad consequences ensue they’ll just circle the wagons and ignore it ’til things blow over. Then return to business as usual. Total denial–as bad about that as the Bammers.

Cube, this may be the best line of the day! Bruce Pearl would be awesome in Athens. He would bring energy and excitement to the UGA basketball program. Something hoops is currently lacking.

Yeah like Jim Harrick did! Woo hoo!!! Excitement! Winning!!!! Then what? A fucking embarrassment. If you don’t care about the university’s reputation be an Auburn fan. Believe me, they don’t care. We do. That’s who we are. If you don’t like it there are plenty of scumbag U’s for you to pull for.

I share your enthusiasm for that JAX but history has taught us that chickens do not come home to roost at Auburn. If they do manage to show up, Jay Jacobs and his paid NCAA sycophants will fry them, eat them and pretend they never were there.

So did we just start caring in the last 10 years? Because before that we had Jim Harrick as our basketball coach.

Michael Adams is an ass who forced that guy on Dooley. Harrick had previously made it clear that he was not a man to trust your program with and Adams hired him anyway. That’s the reason behind the comparison. Hiring a guy like Pearl would be a repeat of a bad decision that embarrassed the school despite that fact that it led briefly to excitement and wins.

And Michael Adams was our school president for 16 years, 10 of which came after Harrick left.

Is that who we are? Just want to make sure I’m clear on what we are.

Cube, almost every member of the Bulldog Nation was disgusted with Adams. Remember when he got booed a Sanford? Mike Adams was a Pyriah who was almost universally hated in Athens who, for whatever reason, was protected by the Governor. That is the only reason he was not fired long ago. Do you really believe it is a coincidence that as soon as Sonny Perdue left office Adams announced his retirement (and also dragged it out as long as possible)? I was personally assured more than 10 years ago by a member of the Board of Regents that Adams was going to be out as soon as things quieted down–that the deal already had been done. I’m sure he said that to a lot of people just to placate them. What a f*cking liar.

Actually, we’re closer to Auburn than Vanderbilt in the US News college rankings for national universities. Vanderbilt is #17, we’re #60, and Auburn is #91.
