“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Sounds like things are going pretty well. If the D gave up big plays, then the arm-flapping and running to open space concept has already set in.

Not only that, it could be an even more awesome year for the Louisville defense if one of the several things Rhaheed must do is learn Todd’s playbook (assuming that Bobby and Todd have not moved Rhaheed’s playbook)

Man that is awesome. I can see myself watching a couple of Louisville games this season just to check in…

Definitely gives some meat to the talk about Pruitt’s simpler schemes. I was worried that was partially just happy talk, figuring even Grantham probably kept things fairly simple when he was first installing a defense.
Somebody pass the Kool Aid. 🙂

Two key phrases in that report. “A couple of long touchdown passes” and “we are all trying to get on the same page”. It’s like deja vu all over again.

“We still have good players; we’re just all trying to get on the same page now,” Burgess said.
With a Todd Grantham defense, they’ll STILL be ““just all trying to get on the same page” come November.
Thank God for Bobby P!

I’m anxious to see if the “Bushed” Doctrine is still in excuse-use by Todd.
Wait until Bobby’s players begin to disappear only to find they have been hurled into the Outback of Grantham Land.

Louisville had better insist on classroom presentation of Grantham’s scheme along with written tests to see if all on the D are on the same page; else, when injury strikes, Todd has his built-in “Not on the same page” excuse entering the game.

We’ve really gotta send the Texas AD a case of Sweetwater 420 for hiring Charlie Strong…without him, none of this would have been possible.

Grantham’s first season as DC at Louisville. 2014 Louisville record: 6-6 regular season with a bowl loss= 6-7. (Sound familiar? He’ll undoubtedly blame it on the O having a new QB.)

The “pretty complicated” comment struck me. I never knew how much credence to give to the talk that Grantham’s schemes were more complicated than necessary. I wondered if it was just our disgruntledness that led to looking for things to blame…but hearing it from another team makes me think that there was definitely something to it.
