“I kind of get tired of it sometimes…”

Poor Ricardo Lewis.

With just 25 seconds remaining, Louis etched his name in Auburn lore on the contest’s final score — an incredible 73-yard touchdown catch-for-the-ages off a deflected pass — which helped Auburn walk away with a 43-38 victory.

Now the play follows him like a shadow.

“Every time I’m out (fans want me) to do the pose or ask me what was I thinking,” he said. “After I caught it I was getting the same response. I just smile and I tell them it was one in a million. A feeling like, I can’t replay the feeling that I felt at that time. I just embrace it. I didn’t know what to do.”

What he was thinking?  What he was thinking was some variation of “man, I’ve got to be the luckiest sumbitch on the planet right now”.

As for being tired of it, during the week leading up to the Auburn game, if Georgia’s coaches aren’t making the defense relive that play to the point of nausea, shame on them.

I’m unclear. I thought Gus said he drew that up. Was Lewis not paying attention?

Halfway back to Toomer’s Corner, I heard a roar. I didn’t even care to find out what happened until I got to the car. Then I damn near cried. Never again.

When people stopped Josh Harvey-Clemons on campus and asked him the same question, his answer was a bit more colorful. And melodic.

    • This one should be shown in the film room periodically. It might be good to be reminded of what is at stake…in case a player might forget. Now, is there one about stealing that is funny but spot on?

That miracle happened because this team was “destined” to get to the MNC just to get their hearts broken on a last second TD in a game they controlled for 59 minutes. This makes me smile.

Thank the heavens for that. I can’t fathom how unbearable it would have been otherwise.

I know that was said tongue in cheek BD but……Auburn really had an 9-3 regular season last year. JHC tipped the pass to Ricardo Lewis turning 1 loss into a win and Saban had a series of brain cramps culminating in the runback that led to another win that was really a loss (frankly I don’t think Auburn would have won the Iron Bowl without the tipped pass win in the Georgia-Auburn game). They already had lost to LSU. Draw a good opponent in a bowl and the Aubies are probably 9-4 last year. I hear they are already planning to build a statue of JHC at Toomer’s Corner entitled “2013 MVP.” JHC will be playing at Auburn in another year–just wait and see.
