The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Floyd has embraced his role in the new system. He says he’s dropping into coverage less and spending more time trying to get after the quarterback.
“I love it,” Floyd said. “Don’t have to think as much. All I’ve got to do is think about rushing.”
… I think I’m going to elevate him to the centerfold.

Why Leonard Floyd was ever asked to drop into coverage is a question I’ll never understand. I just hope he has learned how to set the edge against the zone read/jet sweep spread packages. While Gurley is the team’s most valuable player, Floyd could end up as the best pure athlete on the team.

Linbackers up 3 feet….Floyd on go all the time rushing…..I’m hoping Pruitt has watched plenty of film of our secondary…..because they aren’t that good to put them on an island.

Last year, Floyd had a huge strength in rushing the QB. His obvious weaknesses were dropping into coverage and keeping contain on outside runs. It’s nice to see Pruitt letting him run with his strength. Hopefully, he can mitigate his weaknesses and be a complete player. But even if he can’t, it will be fun watching him sack QBs.
