The kid walked for crying out loud. You, an attorney, of all people should understand that. If you want to jump Auburn do it about all the illegal stuff that the War Tigers do and get away with as an institution–like paying players–not about some JC basketball signee who got arrested and didn’t even have to enter a plea. And is any basketball signee anywhere “squeaky clean” any more what with the AAU, etc.?

And OJ was found innocent. And 20+ million illegals aren’t in jail or being deported. Are you really this naïve? Is the “justice” system in this country your moral compass? If life were this simple, then someone else, Big Brother, could make all the decisions for you. If you get away with something, it is OK with you. Sad.

And who appointed you to be the God-like arbitrator of all that is right and wrong? Gimme a judge in a black robe, not a rube in the Black Hills, to make those decisions, and a jury to decide questions of fact when necessary. That’s the closest we can come to a fair system. If we left it up to you we’d have to pick a day when you’re sober, which is hit or miss at best.

You can be a pawn if you like, dumb ass. I prefer to use my own judgment and instincts as I move through life. You stick your head in the sand if you like. Living in a society requires me to put up with folks like you but when it comes to who I respect, trust, and use as examples of who I will let around me and my family, I will make that determination. I suppose you let your teenage children associate with whomever was not locked away, not me, I rely on my “god like” judgment. And that goes for whom I allow access to my property and defend it against the others. Your last sentence shows what kind of instincts you have, I haven’t over indulged with alcohol since I was in college, late sixties/early seventies. But even drunk or drugged I could make better choices than you apparently can because I use my own brain and don’t rely on the collective wisdom of fools to tell me what I should think.

Sorry, Mac. I was attempting to be humorous in my post above. I did not mean to suggest that you were a drunk, but merely was playing on your scotch-related name. Also, I am not saying that if the coach has knowledge about wrongdoing himself from his own investigation that the coach should wait on the judicial process to make a decision to suspend or dismiss a player. The problem comes when a player is dismissed and then later it is determined he was falsely accused. Most of the time the coach doesn’t really know because he wasn’t there himself. Better to let the the legal process go forward and, hopefully the truth will come out, than to act prematurely IMHO–that’s the point I was trying (feebly it appears) to make.

Intimidated by whom? My understanding of the law is that cops can bring charges if they investigate and determine probable cause that a crime was committed. This sounds like boyfriend is pissed off at girlfriend, busts into her friends apartment and drags her out where they kiss and make up. It doesn’t sound like the friend was intimidated. If she was, shame on the Columbia, MO police for allowing that to happen. If there was witness intimidation that’s another crime itself and the guy could/should have been charged for that, too if it is true.

I’ve now read more about this. If the facts are as alleged in ESPN articles, DGB should still be in jail and should be prosecuted for 2 counts of battery. The cops are doing a bad job if they don’t make a case here.

Crowell’s charges were dropped (or he was found not guilty, can’t recall exactly), too….charges are dropped far down the line often in these scenarios. The initial headline and discipline is what makes the headlines, though.

The current NCAA director of enforcement was hired by Auburn’s current associate athletic director for compliance.
