Wow. You know, kick-six was a big deal for the season and the UA/AU rivalry, but calling it one of the most famous moments in CFB history seems like a bit of a stretch.

I was more surprised by the fact that they are so full of themselves that they think that play was one of the most famous in CFB HISTORY. Heck, it didn’t even result in a national championship.
It was a crazy play, but to me it’s no more famous than our pants-off dance-off against UF in 2007, or Boise St.’s trick plays against Oklahoma several years back in the Fiesta bowl.
Well, ok, maybe it was more famous than our dance off, but still…

While I agree that it would have been even more of a big deal if Auburn had gone on to win the national title, or happened in a title game, that was an amazing play that will be talked about for a long time. There’s some hyperbole there, but not egregious to me.
We’ve seen lots of plays over the years that you could equate to a walk-off homer to win the game, but there are only a few plays that I would equate to a walk-off grand slam on a 3-2 pitch, and that was one of them. The fact that it happened with no time left on the clock, with everything that was on the line, in one of the 2 or 3 biggest rivalries in the country makes it one of those extra special plays in my mind.

Yeah as much as I hate Auburn, I still agree it was a pretty big play on one of the biggest stages at that time. And it knocked our bone-headed play off the loop.

I’m not arguing that it wasn’t a big play. I’m not even arguing that it wasn’t a tremendous play. I’m arguing that it isn’t one of the most famous plays in CFB history
We may be a bit biased because we’re in the same conference as them and it happened to one of our biggest rivals. In five years, is the rest of the country going to view that play significantly differently than other great plays?

This is a big reason that I was rooting for FSU in the BCS NCG. If they would’ve won we would’ve seen the tipped pass and the kick-six 10 times a season in perpetuity.

I truly feel sorry for many of the people that live there. To live in an area that is totally consumed by the activities of a team comprised of 18-22 year olds, in which seemingly everybody’s lives revolve around said team daily, is really sad.
A good Bama friend of mine, who is from/lives in Bham, previously was borderline insufferable regarding the tide. But now that he’s in his mid 30’s he’s starting to realize how backwards the place is and how his overall cultural or lifestyle options are limited. More and more he’s complaining about where he lives, and how he’d like to leave and such. Quite a change form yesteryear, in which he acted as if Bham was La Jolla in which he had a 5 mil house overlooking the pacific.

Well, I live in Birmingham and graduated from UGA; from southwest GA. It’s backwards but the city is much more progressive than many GA cities/towns. Sure, the state loves its football but the educational level isn’t much different than Georgia. I love UGA and can’t stand Auburn or Alabama. But, give me Birmingham all day rather than Atlanta. You can have 285 and you can have Buckhead too.

Agreed. Birmingham is amazing. Great restaurant scene, beautiful landscapes, and lots of excellent golf.

Top comment there right now is some Auburn fan who refers with glee to the fact that the Tigers sent Alabama to a “second tier” bowl with the last-second win in the Iron Bowl. Uh… the Sugar Bowl is a second-tier bowl? Get real.
