Dubai is compelling.

Just so we’re clear here..

… fan interest doesn’t qualify as a “compelling reason”?

Steve Patterson really is a national treasure.

Something tells me he won’t be long in that job.

Correct. Steve is clearly mapping out a strategy to brand himself to be the successor to Mark Emmert as soon as the deciders order Mark to go spend more time with his family.

Actually inside the arena here in Central Texas, there remain plenty of hard feelings between the schools and fan bases. Patterson’s comments generate more high fives than most realize. That being said, if the rivalry were revived, hardly anyone would complain.

The LH network and A&M’s departure? What are UT fans be bothered about?

Pure bitterness, childish really. Good riddance, don’t let the door hit you on the way out. We run this state, blah blah. Texas sized egos abound here.

I live right smack in the middle of Texas and A&M country. Friends who are fans of both teams want to play each other, think Georgia-Auburn. Frankly, I think Texas realizes A&M got the better deal and is quickly becoming the team in the state. Texas really believed they controlled the conference, that they were indespensible. Texas was so shortsighted and really believed the Longhorn network would set them apart. They thought they could tell recruits they would be on the Longhorn network and receive greater exposure. Then the Aggies went to the SEC and now can tell the same recruits that they will play the best teams in the country and do it on CBS and ESPN, not some obscure cable channel. As for Patterson, he is clueless.

  5. If Texas A&M really wants to resume the series (and I don’t think they do, either), then all their AD has to do is come out and declare that Texas is “afraid” to play them … and see what happens.

It’s just business now. Whenever the next time is that they play it will be personal. Just because they ain’t playing don’t mean the rivalry is dead.

I doubt he cares about a&m fan interest. I work with a bunch of ut fans in Houston and Dallas. They never want to play a&m again….in anything. Seems like he is with his base on this one.

This is why I can see my fall weekends opening up in the future. They just want to kill everything that makes college football special.
