Ole Miss’ athletic director has some interesting priorities.
Ole Miss is in favor of eight-plus-one — eight SEC games, plus one game against a team from one of the other four major conferences.
“Then you control your destiny in your nonconference scheduling, so that’s more important for us,” Bjork said.
Sometimes I wonder if these guys get the point to a conference.
That’s clearly a comment that says we like our situation, but we want more control to make sure we get in a bowl game every year. Ole Miss wants Duke, Wake Forest, etc.

Sorry, Senator. You’re the one who doesn’t get it. The point of being in a conference is to win it–period.

In a town where the Nordic AD controls his own directional school destiny, winning the SEC West is possible without going to Mexico City or Helsinki

Aren’t you the guy who advocates reducing the SEC back down to ten teams and playing a nine-game round robin schedule?
Obviously, I’m having a hard time keeping up with your dazzling intellect today, Mayor.

The point of being in a conference is spend as little money as possible and share in the benefits of those who do spend the money.

I buy the concept, but I would change it a bit. Nine conference games and 2 major (BCS) opponents and 1 OOC creampuff of whatever flavor you might desire. I would make it a disqualifier for the playoffs to not play 11 major opponents. Then again, I am old enough to remember how schedules used to be.

My god, don’t we want to see good games? One cupcake is plenty. Let’s play nine conference games, allowing us to keep the rivals we have had for over a hundred years, play North Avenue Trade School, one other of the big 5 and a cupcake. As fans wouldn’t that be fun? Isn’t is better than playing 8 SEC games ( Mizzou and not Auburn) and 3 or 4 shitty games?
On the other hand, compare last year with the excitement of playing Clemmons, SC, and LUS in the first 4 games?
