If one of the incoming freshman tailbacks is good enough to supplant Todd Gurley as the starter, okay.
But I’m not holding my breath.
“No one’s spot is safe nowhere,” Gurley said. “But I compete against myself basically to try to get myself better. I don’t worry about what’s behind me. I really don’t. Not like that.”
That mentality is probably a big reason why he’s as good as he is. Can’t say the same for those guys we just lost/kicked to the curb.

I hope Chubb and Sony are as good as I think. If they push gurley then we will see the biggest beast mode gurley we ever have… If he’s pushed there’s no doubt in mind he will have an incredible season!

“We’re going to let him pound.”
Glorious. Sometimes you just gotta let the big dog eat. He’s a special player that lives for big stages, and Richt/bobo realize (and probably have for a while now) that he alone has the ability to absolutely demoralize opponents. Just no more high ankle sprains please.

I hope all the tailbacks are as good as advertised, but I doubt any will push Gurley for a starting spot. Give the kid his carries, try to keep him healthy, and then let him do his thing.

Listen, Gurley is not going to get to run the ball 25 times a game. He is going to have a limited amount of carries against a loaded box. Gurley is one of those rare guys who gets stronger the more he carries the ball. But the days of a running back getting 25-30 carries is over. Bobo put in the outlet pass to Gurley out of the backfield just to get the ball into his hands because Gurley is that good. Just look at the film from the Clemson game last year when he hit the seam, not many people can do that. Gurley is an original and he is ours!

When Hershel was asked if he got tired carrying the ball forty or fifty times a game he replied, “No sir. The football, it ain’t heavy”. DGD that HW!

I agree Gurley is the bell cow but I was wondering about AJ Turman. I read all these articles about the UGA backfield and they talk about Gurley and Marshall, occasionally mention Douglas and then hype Chubb and Michel. I never see mention of Turman. He was a 4-start and rushed for over 1200 yards when we recruited him .I know he got nicked up last August and took a shirt but how come no news now? Is he a wash-out, changing positions or what?
