        Jerry Jones is advising that a retractable dome and some turf over Sanford would kill two birds with one stone. Since Greg is lining up so many noon and 1 PM start games, a dome may be a good idea. Or, another thought, with his approach to scheduling, he could sell 20-30K of the current seats as collectibles because he isn’t going to need them soon.

    I was there last week showing my wife around campus because she was taking a class there. I noticed it and thought it was odd but it looks like they just tried to fit one extra field in the space. It looked to me that they had four full football field plus this 82 yard field. I could be wrong though.

    A couple of other observations…
    The new field turf color is really a bright green in person.
    The new black aluminum fencing looks really nice.
    I was looking through one of the front windows at Butts-Mere and the say the 20 yard indoor thing. I not sure why they could not extend it since there appears to be an outdoor field just outside.

    One other note…we stayed at the UGA Hotel on the third floor. We were leaving our room and I noticed that the room at the end of the hall had a different room # plate. This one was shaped like a dawg house and red. It said UGA suite. I was not sure if that was truly the suite where UGA stays or it just meant pet friendly room. My daughter asked down at the desk and they said yes in fact that is the room that UGA stays and offered to take us there for a look since it was vacant. Both my daughters wanted to and we did. It was nice. It had a framed authentic “G” jersey worn by one of the UGAs right when you walked in the front door. It was full of nice pictures of past UGAs at Sanford. Of course it was decorated very tastfully with red and black furniture. My girls loved seeing it.

        i did not know what dank meant or that it was even a word. I got this name from the movie “My Dog Skip”. It is a really good movie and will tug on heart and bring back memories of your childhood pets. Anyway there is a character in the movie named Dink Jenkins played by Luke Wilson. The boy in the movie looks up to Dink and in his strong Mississippi dialect it sounds like he is saying Dank Jankins.

          y Dog Skip was a tear jerker. We owned two Jacks. Sammie and Bandit, Bandit looks just like Skip. My sons took them out the front door for a walk one Saturday morning… off the leash and they took off after the neighbors hound dog. Chased him all over the neighborhood. “Mr T” our Tennessee fan and neighbor did not have “Ole Smoky” on the leash either. He still threatened a law suit. I’ve always warned the boys about not putting the Jacks on a leash. They bolt and are not street/car savvy. When we loaded up in the car to find the trio I threatened to wear both the Jacks out when we found them. Yikes! When we returned home my sons offered to stand in for the Jacks for the punishment. They explained this in front of my wife, sister and sister in law. There was a moment of silence until my bride suggested. “They are such young boys … if there is any of that whipping left over I will volunteer.” My sister in law folded her arms and my sister just looked at the floor and shook her head. All the guys in the room busied themselves with their reading material. I quickly explained that since the Jacks were back and Ole Smokey was safe a reprimand was adequate and that boys and I would go get the ice cream. During the road trip to Kroger for the mint chocolate chip ice cream I explained how important it was that guy talk remain within the group of guys. All nodded appreciatively. Sammie passed this winter she was 13. My youngest son came home from work late that night and took her … by himself to bury at the farm. Underneath an old dogwood near the pond where she use to chase chipmunks. He didn’t get home until after 1am. Went to sleep on the couch and left before daybreak. He hasn’t spoken a word about it. I noticed that he placed some gravel on her spot and planted something. I haven’t been back to see what it is that might be growing there, but I have an idea.

              If this is set in Mississippi, why is the Jack Russell not a pitbull? I could see it if it were set in New Orleans because anything is an improvement over a chihuahua

      That’s right Dank, I was going to post and say the same. I was a Redcoat and before they got their own practice field at the intramural fields we practiced on the 120 yd artificial turf field next to this one. Basically there are 1 3/4 artificial turf fields.

      My wife and I stayed in the Uga Suite the night of our wedding. It’s awesome. We had breakfast downstairs the next morning and the college kids working there kept asking, “is the Uga Suite as amazing as everyone says it is?! I’ve never been in it.” And the answer is yes.

    I think that athletic department is just saving money and that’s the rest of the field used on the indoor portion of Butts-Mere. Plus, when you’re planning on leading the nation in YPP, there’s no need to work on red zone offense.

        I like his potential as well, but is he good enough to block for himself? Skill talent hasn’t been the primary problem there. Lack of commitment – and, some years, sufficient depth – to field a proper return unit has been the prevailing problem.

          I know, I know , it isn’t my nature to call a true freshman a guaranteed success until he proves it, but I just have a gut feel about this one. And this is a skill that is instinctive and doesn’t need development….or much blocking. Like turning a cat loose. Perhaps I have just longed to have a guy like this for so many decades. Remaining optimistic despite all the logic being expressed by others.

    No metaphor from this corner, but that’s pretty much all this Nabulsi troll item is good for. This is just one of several practice fields, and you can run plenty of drills on even half a field.

      This is how I feel as well. From the outside lof the fence it looked odd. However taking into account there appeared to be at lease three if not four other full sized fields I think they were just trying to utilize all the available space. I will say that this coupled with the 20 yd indoor field could come off as looking cheap.

      Then why put yard line numbers on it? If it’s going to be a smaller field, put lines, hash marks, etc and run drills on it all day. Just don’t number the yard lines so we look like retards.

        I would agree. They should have left the numbers and the large “G” logo on the 50 off. Put some sleds and other stuff on it and it would not stand out.

        I think letting our football/athletic officers be (no knock on the men they’re named for) called ‘butt smear’ took care of that long ago. Georgia never thinks anything through (other than the reserve fund… precious)…

      But it is very typical of the way the Athletic Dept goes about many things. They likely have the best of intentions but it just looks second rate at best and completely incompetent at worst.

    The spaciousness of the short field doesn’t do away with the fact that some still say it’s too hard to do a 3-point maneuver in the IPF

    Ok sports fans. If you look at the last budget for 2013 there is 900,000 earmarked for consulting fees for…… redesign for the practice field. Redesign by former LAR student. 😉
