Here’s a reason to smile today.
It’s set to be released August 1st. Mick Jagger is one of the producers.
Is it too much to expect “Dooley’s Junkyard Dawgs” in it?

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
It’s already got one strike against it… It was not filmed in Georgia. Heresy.

It was filmed in Mississippi because Mississippi is an exact likeness of the South fifty years ago.

Very slim, although that is the kind of “little known facts” that make these bios interesting. Showing him performing at Sanford would be a fun scene.

I saw him once at the first Music Midtown in 1994. He was one of the headline acts to play at the end of the evening. Was about 45 minutes late coming on stage but was worth the wait. Hah! Get on upa, get on up….

On a plane headed for Europe, he left first class and walked down the cabin aisle with a couple of fellows. “Go Junkyard Dawgs!” fetched a stare of no recognition toward me.
He will always be a favorite of us old farts.

The highlight of my one year with the Redcoats was when we did the halftime show with him in the Hall of Fame Bowl in ’87. The night before the game he put on a fantastic concert and the Redcoats were invited. Truly awesome. If we’d beaten Boston College in the bowl game, then I guess it would have been too much fun.

They been plenty of movie about Jesus and Lincoln and all them other dudes. Bout time they did one on the MAN! The GODFATHER of SOUL. Taken it to the bridge. Sex Machine. Man World. Papa Got a Brand New Bag. Cold Sweat. Soul Mane. Lickin Stick. And yes, Dooley Junkyard Dog, like the man in the photo always at top of GTP. Little dancing fool shoe shine boy who became international star. Passion. People love passion. That’s why they love the Godfather. That why I love GTP. It more subdued white dude passion, like “ooh, eee” instead of “BABY, BABY, WOO BABY,” but it passion. Heh!

I was at the Cotton Bowl in 1976 (anyone remember QB Ray Goff & the infamous “shoestring” play?) when JB performed with the Redcoats. He was our best memory of a game the Razorbacks took over completely in the 4th quarter.

With all the infighting over his estate, I’m surprised they figured out who to pay for the rights to make this movie.
