“Everything is about a bowl game and getting back to that.”

Butch Jones, you have a point.

“It’s hard to believe that there isn’t an individual in Tennessee football’s football program right now from a players’ standpoint [that’s] participated in a bowl game.”

Just because it’s hard to believe doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it, though.

Make sure you catch the sidebar list of 17 of the 40 high school players Tennessee signed in 2011 and 2012 who left the program before exhausting their eligibility.  (No wonder Al Wilson can’t bring himself to mention SOD by name.)

I miss Mike Hamilton.

  1. Tennessee is a dangerous team to play, IMO. Jones is a good coach. You may have your way with them, but they’re also well-coached enough and will play hard enough, to challenge anybody who’s not having a pretty good day.

Last year they got South Carolina, costing them the SEC East, and should have gotten us. They’ll have new players, new lines, and all that. But I’ll be shocked if they don’t get somebody. It’s our job to make sure it isn’t us.

Just another season in the SEC. Nothing is easy.

Wise words, I have to admit I don’t see them giving us much a problem this year in Athens (wouldn’t have last year until the massacre began) but the following year in Knoxville could be different. Wearing those ugly pajamas last year shows you how desperate he is to win a big game against UGA. He knows how valuable it will be to recruiting but he might should lay it all out for Florida, they are an easier target than UGA these days.

Those were some UUGLY uniforms. Geez. One problem we don’t have around here is a uniform problem. Ours are iconic, classy, and there’s no better uniform in football. Richt has done a good job with them.

Yes, but the gray color is no part of UT’s history. I am OK with our Black Jersey once a year, or two. Just please, don’t announce it to the fans. No need for synchronized dressing, just led the boys have some fun. I love our Red Jerseys but that black one is one fine looking uni and shouldn’t be shelved forever. The mistake with the Bama game was making the announcement in advance. (The helmet, on the other hand, should never be black again!)

          • I don’t care for the black, but I know a lot of people do. And the black helmets were indeed awful.

The only change I would make to the unis would be to take the red trim from around the numbers on the white jerseys. It would be a much cleaner look. They look good up close, but it just blurs on TV due to the lighter color around the darker, black number. how they look on TV is more important.

But they did a nice job with Nike, in keeping the traditional look, and the new numbers are great. The look will be even better when we get the real silver britches, which should be this year, or next year, anyway. I hope we already have them for this year, as they could start fresh along with the team.

Hope you are right about the silver britches, didn’t know that was still in the works. And frankly I don’t know what is so hard about that anyway. Phil Knight doesn’t have any trouble coming up with all other colors of the spectrum for Oregon.

              • I know. But it’s some technical thing about the real silver color and the particular fabric we like. A year ago they said they would have a solution soon. So we’ll see.

I recall that from a few years ago, over a decade I think, surely that isn’t a problem that couldn’t be solved by now.

                • You’re probably right. But this particular problem is only a year old. Or maybe 3 or 4 years, actually. It was when we went to the darker, more gray, pants because they were lighter and allowed more freedom.

But it was a year ago Nike said that they would have a solution in a year or so, and McGarity has echoed that at least once since then.

In a year when Vandy gets Geogia, Florida and Tennnessee…I’ll take “Butch Please” with a grain of salt. If uT gets to 6 they will be happy and Georgia between the hedges won’t be counted in that group.
      Just sayin’

Arky should have hired Butch. Always get somebody or almost always and plays everybody tough.
