Jeremy Pruitt (!) brings the Dawg porn

I mean, this is like mainlining it:

First, McKenzie, the 5-foot-7 receiver-returner from south Florida. During Tuesday’s practice McKenzie caused a stir with a move he made: He caught a pass in the flat, then made a couple guy’s miss, according to quarterback Hutson Mason.

“It was real nice. It was smooth,” Mason said.

The reaction by defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt made Mason chuckle.

“Coach Pruitt goes: ‘Oh my God!'” Mason said, imitating the coach. “With that redneck twang: ‘Oh my God!’ It was pretty funny. But yeah, (McKenzie) is one of those guys you just throw him the ball and kind of let him do his own thing.”

I’m not sure I’m gonna be able to take much more of this.

Let’s hope that these guys have better careers and futures than the last freshman named Isaiah whose Georgia football career had a good start.

STAMFORD, Conn. and BRISTOL Conn. – August 6, 2014.

ESPN and Charter Comms joint statement:

“You may ask, What is our policy? ESPN SEC Network will say; ‘It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us: to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark lamentable catalogue of human crime, to wit: making Paul Finebaum, Tammy, Timmy and Phyllis from Mulga nationwide. That is our policy.’ You may ask, What is our aim? ESPN SEC Network can answer with one word: Bad. Also Ratings—ratings at all costs, ratings in spite of all terror, ratings however long and hard the shows may be; for without ratings there is no survival. Irredentism now. Irrendentism tommorrow. Irrendentism forever.”

So, ESPN is going to be in the Ukraine? or Crimea?

        I can see it now:
“We here at CNN wish to interrupt for breaking news: The Russians, the Ukrainians and the Malasian Airplane Investigation Team (the one on land) have announced a truce at 3:00AM in order that they all may repair to taverns that have satellite tv to watch the upcoming Georgia/South Carolina game featured as the SEC Channel’s game of the week. Never before in the history of World Wide Imperial Sports have there been wars halted to bring the restful peace of CFB to that part of the world. ESPN is sponsoring the truce.
We will now return you to our regular programing of the UGA/SC game here at CNN, followed immediately thereafter by our coverage of the resumed war in the Ukraine.”

“Breaking News again: An HD model TV was airlifted to the Ebola Infection Zone and spliced into the camp generator in order to televise the SEC Channel’s Game….”

“More breaking News: A 3 hr and 23mins truce has been called between Israel and Gaza”s Hamas in order to bring the SEC Channel’s SEC Game (thru ESPN’s Altruism United sponsored by Dubai) to this region. Emergency generators are relegated by the UN to power large screen TVs parachuted into Gaza by the Relief Fund (sponsored by ESPN’s SEC For Peace mission in the UN) while the Israeli spokesperson stated”We have our own sets and are self-sufficient in reception of the SEC Channel owned by ESPN. We got a bargain.” Various reports of signal blocking have already been rumored before Gametime, but not substantiated by UN referees flown in specifically for this truce.

Based on what I’ve read in that article and others recently, I’m even more impressed with Wynn than McKenzie. It seems like a young skill player makes a lot of waves in camp every year, only to mostly disappear when the real games start. The same fate may await Wynn, but the prospect of a freshman being good enough to play on the offensive line is really a nice thought, huh? IF he earns significant playing time as a freshman, it seems as though it will be because of his talent and effort, and not because of desperate need. When was the last time a true freshman offensive lineman earned playing time that way at UGA?

    • IDK, if it’s by talent and not need. Maybe Boling? But then, IIRC, we were in bad need, as we usually are.

I’m just happy to have a freshman OL who can PLAY. Those are the kind of guys we’ve been needing, yet haven’t seen much of.

After watching those 3 snaps of his from yesterday, IDK how we can keep Wynn off the field. IDK when, but at some point this year, he will play.

Um…I know that. But I think that was more out of necessity than because he took the job from an upperclassman who was at least serviceable. Am I wrong about that?

Maybe my point wasn’t clear. I’m not saying Theus wasn’t a talented freshman. He was. But my excitement at the thought of Wynn playing is as much about the notion that UGA doesn’t need him to play as it is about the possibility that he may be good enough to play. I think they have five linemen who could do a serviceable job without him. I’m not sure that was the case in 2012.

    • Was Theus a desperation move? Gates and Beard were available at tackle. I thought he earned his position fair and square.

      Like

      • I think so. But neither Gates nor Beard were Tackles. So we just didn’t have any.

Gates recently signed a free-agent contract with the Bucs (hope he makes it). But to get an idea of what I mean, and why our OL has been substandard, here’s one recent NFL analysis of Gates (and I must say it looks dead-on to me).

“Kenarious Gates is a prospect who evaluators will have trouble finding any positives at this point in his development. Aside from his size, which can act as a hindrance to fundamental play when the prospect cannot bend well or get his pads down, Gates is not above average in any measure of athletic attributes we typically look for. Gates has inconsistent feet and flashes rarely in the run game. He is a liability in the pass game and is too stiff to set or even redirect properly when faced with outside threats. His lateral agility is below average and his balance is among the worst functionally of all 2014 offensive line prospects eligible for the NFL draft studied thus far. Gates has a sputtering motor, lacks quickness and generates nowhere near the power in any aspect that one expects out of a prospect of his physical makeup. NFL teams will not worry about whether Gates will come in ready to start in 2014 or even provide proven depth. Their primary concern will be whether this prospect is even draftable.

So that is the scoop on our best OL last year, and should tell us something about where our OL has been. Many of us wondered about Theus, seeing he couldn’t beat out Gates, and we hope he is a better player this year. Anyway, those of us who worry about the OL have good reason, though I do feel better about our chances this year than most years.

We’ve been talking about how our OL eval and recruiting has to be picked up in a big way, and how there are a few signs that it has. The showing out of Isiah Wynn is another sign. Another good sign.

Bucs drafted him as a guard. If as you say he isn’t a tackle that will be of some help to him. If a guard playing out of position displaces a 5 star tackle that doesn’t bode well.

I agree with Ivey on this one. Since Theus is a tackle, I think they did need him to play in 2012. For me to think otherwise, I would have to think UGA had two good serviceable tackles ahead of him. And in my decidedly non-expert opinion, Gates and Beard don’t fit that definition. On the other hand, I think they could probably cobble together two serviceable guards ahead of Wynn.

A little bit of cold water in Richt’s comments on punt returners from earlier today (from Gentry Estes report on 247):

“I’m going to base the decision on who that guy is on how well he fields the ball and how well he protects the ball,” Richt said. “If you don’t field the ball and don’t protect it, it doesn’t matter how good you can run. And that punt return is so much different in college than in high school.”

It might be news because someone at Georgia caught a pass—when they were supposed to—Hello Conley, yes, we remember…

Or it made big news because none of the other players make defensive guys miss….

Did him making a move, IN PRACTICE, deserve an entire blog article written about him? Can we at least wait until a scrimmage…

It has been quite extremely generous with people like you in giving publicly sports knowledge precisely what a few people could have marketed for an electronic blog to end up making some bucks for themselves, most importantly now that you could possibly have done it in case you decided to launch football camp for youths. The smart football ideas also worked to become fantastic way to recognize that other individuals have a similar dreams like mine to see good deal more with respect to this problem. Certainly there are a lot more pleasurable periods ahead for individuals who looked over your blog comments. Go Dwags!

Which, like Dawg19, I believe they all lead back to Thomas Brown. He has been posting garbage in great length on his “blog”, most of which is a more painful read than the ticker on c-span. The worst/greatest part of all, is he “likes” his own posts, and he is the absolutely only one. Me and several others have called him out on it, to much delight. I don’t even go back to see if the idiot responds to me, because I refuse to give him any extra clicks. He has been consumed by his loneliness, and he is screaming out for help. His hijacking has seen him banned from even the lowliest of hangouts, such as the ajc georgia blogs. How sweet is it, a troll’s last unbanned/dying breath?
