For every Nick Marshall discretion that we’ve heard about, there are probably dozens that he’s gotten away with. His problem is getting occasionally caught…because good behaviour is apparently not an option for him. If he were a third string lineman, Auburn would dismiss him and free up a scholarship for the next blue chipper to get kicked out of another program. The University of Auburn is disgusting.

Speaking of Auburn…They could have had all of those great teams UF had during UM’s tenure as head gator, if only UM had done the right thing. Don’t miss the last two paragraphs of this piece. It’s old, but it will make you appreciate programs that actually enforce standards of discipline.

After reading that quote by Jenkins, I am thinking Corch might be Mayor’s son. At least Mayor has to have a picture or two of Corch in his house(maybe a poster over the bed). They are definitely of the same mindset, and know “what it takes to win”….not at life of course, but a temporary high from a college game. That is how rational the Mayor is, and he wants all of us to follow along.

Why isn’t anyone complaining about the “stupid rule”, you know…like so many do about UGA’s drug policy?
Me? I have the same attitude toward both. The students know the rules and agree to abide by them, no matter how “stupid” they are.

Generally speaking – I agree with you, but I think the situation at BYU is a little more nuanced since it’s a private university run by the LDS Church (I assume most of their rules are led by LDS standard). Our drug policy is an internal operating philosophy that we aren’t required to have.

I agree with you. They are different universities with different funding and different purposes. And those facts bear very much on whether certain rules should exist.
My comment, however, was rooted in my frustration with some UGA fans who want to talk more about whether the rules should exist than why a kid who agreed to the rules should be expected to follow them.
They are two separate discussions, and are equally valid. But I don’t think they should be confused or substituted for one another.
