The problem with exercises like this one, aside from coachspeak (Of the 65 coaches, ‘hungry’ was the most common description.”) is the lack of nuance.

Is Richt saying…

  • “Wow, wait ’til people get a load of Isaiah McKenzie”?
  • “Wow, I can’t believe Ray Drew is on the scout team”?
  • “Wow, Todd Gurley”?
  • “Wow, I can’t believe that with a week to go we haven’t settled on the starters in the secondary yet”?

Beats me.

What do you think he’s ginned up about?

“Wow, these media knuckleheads ask the same stupid questions day after day, year after year. But I’m too much of a gentleman to tell them that. Wow”.

  2. GaskillDawg

I am thinking along with Spike. “Wow, what a stupid f’ing question!”

  3. uglydawg

“Wow, Blutarsky used “ginned up” do describe my emotional state!”

“Wow, we haven’t worn the iconic red pants on the road since ’88 and yet we came out in George Jetson Space Uniforms against Boise a few years back.”

That ‘decent’ from Spurdog is a little underwhelming.

“Wow, that coed over there is hot. Sorry, I didn’t hear your question.”

OK, that’s funny! I’m disappointed that he didn’t come up with something a little more descriptive or at least more clarity…maybe he’s trying to keep everyone guessing. I do know this…he’s gonna look silly if we bomb out on the first game. Then it will be ‘Wow’ what were you thinking CMR?

P.S. …and this comes after comments about concerns for the unsettled positions. Maybe the ‘wow’ is…”wow, look at all the unsettled positions”…

    Ha good ol’ Spurrier

  8. do not resuscitate

Hopefully it’s something along the lines of, “Wow, I forgot what a well coached defense could look like.”

  9. Russ

I don’t know what Right meant, but the Ol’ Ball Sack cracked me up with his summary, “Decent”.

  10. “Wow! We don’t have a kid capable of playing offensive tackle on this team.”

  11. Bulldog Joe

“Wow. Look at the number of freshmen we will have to play again this year. I guess undersigning and zero tolerance policies were not such good ideas after all.”

  12. Daniel Simpson Day

“Wow, I may have a defense this year.”

  13. BMan

“Wow, marijuana stays in a kid’s system a lot longer than I thought.”

  14. Mark

Wow – as in these kids have come a long way since last year.

That was an unexpected word. Interpreting it, I am somewhere in between: 1) “Wow I never thought I would have an all new defensive staff, along with several missing players and some that still have not recovered from their injuries. Who woulda thunk it?” and, 2) “Wow, look at all these uber talented players running around making plays on both sides of the ball. Amazing what “letting the dogs out” has done in just a few months. Cannot wait to show SpurDawg my new philosophy.”

I don’t know about you guys, but when I played sports, there’s was always one word I hoped our coach would use to describe us…”audacious”. Damn! I would run through walls after that!

  17. HVL Dawg

Wow, the last 8 months have been a blur.

“Wow” is a great descriptor for your team plus your enthusiasm of what they bring. He’s been there for every practice including a still-secret ST practice. He has seen athleticism from players on this team and “Wow” is the best one-word descriptor. He’s honest and he doesn’t use sales puffery. Too bad it doesn’t mean shit to some of us while the more moribund quote from Spurrier appeals to you.

I think he means all the “Wow” factors listed by Bluto and much more. It’s the most excited and exciting remark of them all (and I’ll bet it has legs in the media).

Spurrier’s is fantastic, and is the reason I can not help but love the guy. Perhaps it’s because I matriculated late enough to only see him beat us once at Florida, but the SEC will be a worse place when he retires. He’s also probably the best coach in the SEC, a step ahead of Saban and a couple steps ahead of Miles and Richt.

  20. AusDawg85

Wow, I can’t believe how stupid Louisville is.

  21. “Wow, these new ‘real-silver’ britches are killer!”

I’d love that, but no, I don’t know anything. Just hopeful, as GM said Nike told him a year. And that was more than a year ago.

Careful about trusting Phil Knight and his band’s promises. They have had this contract for over 15 years and he couldn’t get it done. All the while turning out every conceivable combination of yellow and green for the Ducks. Getting a material and dye married in China isn’t that hard is it?

My guess is it’s about his sentiment for his guys as people (or at least the majority of them) and as a football family. I doubt it’s football-skill related.
