Chris Conley puzzles the NCAA.

You should read Ivan Maisel’s piece on Chris Conley because it’s a terrific piece on Chris Conley.  Then, you should chuckle over this part:

… Hines is working with Conley on his next film, about a superhero of Conley’s own creation. Conley petitioned the NCAA to allow him to raise money for the film on Kickstarter, the crowdsourcing website. The NCAA said yes, albeit after extensive head-scratching. No student-athlete had ever asked to use Kickstarter.

It’s probably a good thing for Conley nobody understood.

Just so amazing. Every time you read something about him you just come away more and more impressed. So glad he is a dawg. If he wanted to run for governor or senator this fall he would probably win either, or both.

    Great kid.

  2. Conley is my wife’s favorite player and is darn close to the top of my list as well. He epitomizes what it means to be a STUDENT-athlete and DGD. I really hope he has a chance to make it in the NFL before he starts his career in film or whatever he decides he wants to do.

  3. Wow, that was a great piece. So proud to have so many kids like Conley and Mason as Dawgs.

The more you hear about Conley, the more you feel that he will be a success no matter where life takes him.

Beside the dictionary definition of role model is a picture of Chris Conley. I hope he mentors future players. I know he will be successful at anything he decides to do.

Loophole discovered! Player incorporates and sells shares on Kickstarter to participate on future earnings as a pro. I’m only half joking.

I hope the NCAA doesn’t figure this one out. I’d hate to have to forfeit the MNC. CC is “Impressive”.

    • UnionJack

Kickstarter does not allow to giveaway “shares” tied to future earnings of the endeavor. It does allow you to get actual merchandise from the project or inspired by the project (dvd copies of his movie or a movie poster etc.) or “experiences” – VIP tickets to the premiere etc.

This probably an even bigger nightmare from an NCAA because Kickstarter will allow people to crowd source funds for any legal “project” (like the guy who raised $10k to make potato salad because he had never made potato salad before 2014) so in theory Jameis Winston could have raised $$ for his crab leg dinner on Kickstarter. All he needed to do was send people souvenirs from the dinner and pictures and stuff like that.

  8. Impressive young man

  9. I would be impressed but the only conclusion is that Conley is smarter than the NCAA. How hard is that?

    • ScoutDawg

Yeah, you are right. That highly intelligent, highly motivated, spititual young man is gaming the system. I don’t know him but, I bet if CC was trying to get over on the NCAA your dumbass wouldn’t even know he was trying.

      • ScoutDawg

JC, sorry, I think my sarcasm filter needs new batteries. Just sensitive about this young man. I hope he has 1100 yards this season and an Academy Award.

    • the hard part comes when the NCAA realizes what kickstarter is, then retoractively changes their minds and suspends him for the season with us forfeiting every game he ever played the last 4 years.

Well, not to hard, Manziel and Cam’s Dad did it too,

Great article, but I can’t believe he’s a DC Comics guy. Marvel is much better.

Seriously, glad he’s a Dawg. He’s a wonderful representative for UGA, for himself and his parents.
