“This depth chart, I wouldn’t go too crazy about right now, to be honest with you.”

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
This is Evil Richt at work right here.

I like it, press and fans don’t need to know every detail in advance of the game. The college game has changed so much in the past few years that who runs on the field first isn’t as significant as it once was. Substituting freely, reducing the number of hits, keeping fresh legs on the field, and just finding a way to get the best talent on the field as much as possible is all a part of it. Rotating backs and WRs are already the norm, what’s a little more mixing and matching? As long as the players know their assignments and the coaches trust them, let them play….and the order doesn’t matter.

Agree. Let’s see who can help us win. Knowshon was redshirted when he could’ve been helping us win. We’ve had guys flounder in CRG’s famous dog house. We’ve had injuries, suspensions, attrition, ncaa bs with AJ and Kolton. If competition is so close, let’s get em in the game and see how they do. Before the seasons’ half way through we’ll likely need at least the two deep at just about every position to contribute – a lot.

Interesting comment from Richt, but it doesn’t change anything from what I thought yesterday when the depth chart came out.
I still think Kimbrough will either start or play a lot, and that Bowman probably won’t. I think we’ll see a good bit of Shattle, in fact my guess is he starts. We’ll likely see JJ, Parrish, and Mauger, and might even see Rico. I don’t think you can keep Rico off the field for long, though he might not be ready for this game.
Who knows what will happen in the secondary. And even some of the other spots. Frankly, I doubt they know for sure yet, and in any event I’m sure they’ll have a backup plan as to who’s next if somebody isn’t handling it.
It’s gonna be interesting, but we’ll have to wait until the game is over to know a whole lot about who’s playing what.
