Fun with Week 4 numbers

Sure, the sample size could be bigger, but there’s still interesting stuff to glean out there.

Also interesting is that the power rating stats in several different places seem to put a higher value on Georgia than the pollsters do right now.

The computers don’t matter any more, of course, so you have to wonder how much the selection committee is going to rely on the human polls in making its calls.

  1. What, no QBR mention of Bauta being better than Ramsey?

Slow the kool aid. Georgia is 109th in Passing offense.Florida is 50th. Alabama is 12th and 24th in Rushing Offense(with Yelton and Henry). Looks like Nick has seen the future. Auburn is 84th in passing offense .

Week 4, this team is about right where we’d thought/hoped they would be, don’t you think? Excellent running the ball. The new guys are tremendous. Adequate game manager of a qb who is struggling to throw the deep ball, but not making many mistakes. OL that is playing well, but a little inconsistent at times. Strong D-line and LB for the most part. DB that is really struggling at times. But they are tackling better and causing turnovers.

So happy that special teams have been much improved. Anybody else catch Richt running up to Ekeler after they punted the ball away from McKenzie? Next punt we had Davis and McKenzie back there. Good adjustment that helped on the next punt.

This team has weaknesses, but they’re fun to watch, and can win some games this year.

Looking forward, Ark game really worries me. All of our DT’s and DE’s lost weight this year, and we may not be as deep as I’d like. Wouldn’t you like to have a big old 8 man front against those guys? They really bruise you. But it should be fun to see Gurley, Chubb and company run with those guys.

Excellent, well reasoned post. Thanks for your post. i was about to lose faith in Dawg Nation. As I was sitting in the Blind Pig after the game, a friend said, so what can the naysayers possibly complain about after this game, and my answer was: they will lambast CMR for not letting Gurley get 100. I was of course proven right. We have too many no it all complainers. We need more people like you SC. Go DAWGS

Good thing we didn’t talk after the usc game. I was a little down. Seriously though this team is somewhere between 8-4 and 11-1 at the end of the year. They are not a bad team. They are just not a complete team. Little good luck and we get closer to the former.

  9. If the #s keep up for another couple of weeks, the trending is generally what we should want, with an asterisk. Positive TO #s, positive ST #s, strong running game = wins for UGA teams historically. The asterisk, of course, is: what will we give up in the passing game? I think what we’ve learned so far is that if UGA can pressure the QB, we can take pressure off the secondary. If we can’t, then we’re gonna get burned over the middle and will need to score a lot of points. Sooner or later, we’re gonna have to rely on Mason’s arm to play catch up. Can he do it? Jury still out on that one, but I know I’ll feel better if and when JSW and MM are back in the game.

I really expected more comments on Ramsey and Bauta..just the fact that they looked like guys who knew what they were doing…also, even against Troy, the reserves looked and played great. The OL reserves especially along with the WRs. Also, kudos to Bobo for rediscovering Douglas who is a helluva runner in his own right. Hope Richt and Bobo use all of the above quite liberally in future games. This should have a positive effect on our recruiting. MacKenzie/Michle and a well Chubb +Douglas to support Gurley…and a well Marshall should scare the hell outta Vols!
