Dawg of the week

It’s only Tuesday, but it’s Leonard Floyd, hands down.

“Once you come to Georgia, you already hate Tennessee,” Floyd said.

That is not the sound of a man ready to take the day off.

UPDATE:  shows us why Floyd is licking his chops.

Hope he conveys that hate to all the young guys behind him in the secondary. Need that level of commitment to get through this game. I expect a win but in my heart I know UT will give us a game. They almost always do. They hate us too you know.

+1 I like Floyd’s intensity but when are athletes going to learn to shut their mouths? Trash talking/bragging is so I hope Pruitt gets him straight, never, never give your opponent anything. He seems to have shut down the showboating on the field, guess he didn’t have time to get around to this. When we see the highlight clips we can celebrate for 36 hours and talk about what the TEAM did on the field not who sounded cool before the game. (Did you see McKenzie just drop the ball after his TD return and go back to his team? DGD!)

#UGA OLB Leonard Floyd was asked about Vols QB Justin Worley as pass threat if given time in pocket: “He won’t have any time Saturday.”
    7:12 PM – 22 Sep 2014

That is the money quote of the week. I hope that Leonard and the other OLB’s are able to open up a can of whoop ass on the hillbillies this weekend.

Let’s not go giving them too much bulletin board material though

I bought into Leonard’s hype and talking before the Carolina game. I like where his mind is, but let’s see a pass rush this Saturday. Then we can relish covering the spread over some post-game drinks.

Just feels odd to be playing Tenn before Fla has.

They will have to do a better job of getting the memo’s out to all of us in GTP Nation.
They pulled some strings so the Dawgs could tenderize the Gators for Agent Muschamp. Just in case he stumbled coming out of the gate. Good thing they did too!

  5. Why do I get the feeling this is the game that Pruitt has circled to unveil how he really plans to play defense when he gets the right set of Jimmies and Joes in the program? I assume there’s some deep-down disdain for Tennessee given his Alabama roots.

“Now, the take away from this is not that Tennessee is just terrible. They aren’t. Worley made a lot of good throws in the Oklahoma game under constant pressure”….thanks Cory Brinson.

It’s Tuesday….time to get out the worry hats.

I hope I’m not trotting out a Beyond Crompton reference on Sunday.

Two takeaways from that chart: 1) Hutson Mason has only attempted 3 more passes than Nick Marshall. Call this the Gurley effect. 2) Jeff Driskell is comfortably last in the conference in passer rating. Someone remind me why we’re told every preseason that he’ll be good.

We are told he’ll be good because the Dickhead PR machine that went into repeat when Dickhead signed Driskell is still running along quite smoothly.

That would be the same PR machine that convinced a lot of people Aaron Hernandez was just an excitable boy.

  10. So, we’re popping off at the mouth now? Interesting. I don’t like it – never have, and never will. What’s said may be true, or may not be, but there’s never any justification for that kind of talk in public, IMHO.

I’m a little surprised, but it’s done. So OK, let’s see it backed up.

(Floyd) spoke with confidence Monday evening when discussing what the Bulldogs’ pass rush could accomplish in its second SEC game … and went as far as to say Tennessee quarterback Justin Worley will have “no time” in the pocket come Saturday.

Getting to Worley is a big key to the game, if not THE biggest key. Not getting to him is a fine Rx for getting beat. So let’s see it.

Tanya Sichynsky: After Georgia’s 66-0 shutout of Troy, such high self-esteem is warranted.

Somehow, I don’t think Tanya knows what she’s talking about.

“We’re coming off a big win and everybody’s got high spirits around here,” inside linebacker Ramik Wilson said.

It was nice game. But be careful, boys. Confidence is one thing. But being full of yourselves is very dangerous in this League. And Richt has never been good at counteracting it.

This is one article, and IDK the writer, so it’s hard to know the real context without seeing the video interviews. Hopefully, it’s not like the article makes it sound. If it is, I hope all this gets back to Pruitt. Because he won’t like it. And that’ll be a good thing.
