Something tells me Dave has been notified that he will be stepping down in December.

Most likely, but IMO this has to be a fake. No way he’s that stupid unless he has an out of control ego coupled with a total lack of self-awareness.

I’ve seen this several places, and I have to believe it’s fake. If it is legitimate, UM has a peg to hang Pizza Man’s firing on right there. In his position, you don’t abuse supporters of the program, I don’t give a damn how shitty the woman’s letter may or may not have been. If it was way shitty, don’t answer it at all. Of course, UM has about three or four pegs to hang his firing on already and they haven’t done it, so what do I know.

And if it’s fake, the thing to do would be to get out there and make that clear. The failure to do so gives credence to it. But UM has been about as tone deaf as a program can possibly be when it comes to PR, so I don’t know why I’d expect them to handle this latest thing any differently than they have.

Maybe he’s just upset about RichRod having a better win last night than the Michigan program has had in 25 years.

Over/Under on how much longer Mr. Brandon is a University of Michigan employee?

Michigan is a fin university with a wonderful football heritage. His behavior is decidedly beneath the standards set there.

  4. Prime example of DB treating fans and alumnus like a consumers instead of a family member. His mindset of “one customer’s money means nothing” is very telling. Graduates of a school are not the same as a Domino’s Pizza customer. You can always move on to another pizza preference, but you can’t change the school you love. The fact that DB doesn’t understand that simple fact explains everything you need to know about why he has failed so miserably at Michigan. I would be shocked if he isn’t gone in the next week or so.

Right. Telling someone to find another pizza chain to support is vastly different than telling a UM alum to find another team to support or root for. Unless proven otherwise, I doubt this is legit—there’s simply no way he could be that dumb.

“Unless proven otherwise” — right or wrong, under the circumstances it’s on UM to get out and say “This is a fake, Brandon never wrote it, would never write anything like that, don’t believe everything you read on the Internet, folks.” They’re under fire and have to at least duck and cover. Letting this wander about the Internet is the equivalent of throwing another old couch into the flaming UM dumpster. If they haven’t answered because he really did send it, his ass ought to be gone already, screw “gone in December.” They’ve GOT to be looking for an excuse. This would be an excellent one.

This after a protest crowd already voiced their opinion publicly concerning him and their not-as-guilty coach? I ‘d dislike being responsible for recruiting there.

If there’s not a big fallout over him in his job it’s because the alums don’t give a shit either. Season tickets from those too squeemish to watch brain injuries mount will be sold to the don’t-give-a-shits.

Where is AS when you need them?

The response was wrong regardless but if the blogger is going to post that he also ought to include the original letter.

Doesn’t matter what she said. If it was really awful, Brandon ought not have answered at all. If he’s exchanging insults with every UM fan/alum that sends him a fisty email, the man must not sleep and type 200 words a minute if he’s keeping up.

Let this serve as a lesson to never hire/promote based on friendships, but instead stick to a system of meritocracy. When the Michigan AD position became available, they were flooded with applications from top AD’s from around the country. But instead of choosing from a list of who’s who among top AD’s, they went with someone who had zero experience as an AD, but naturally had close ties to various UM brass.

The Peter Principle, in full effect, as a result. FWIW, his performance as CEO of Domino’s wasn’t exactly noteworthy, and much has been written about his predecessor, Patrick Doyle, (the smiley guy you often see on their commercials) inheriting a complete mess there yet being able to turn things around completely.

What’s the odds that he played for Michigan and is suffering from post- concussion trauma? That could explain his attitude.

  15. Anybody else get the sense this is how the UGA AD views us, too? This to me is just a microcosm in the shifting world where television lords over all decision making and the AD’s view us as nothing more than everyday consumers of their product. As Michigan, and our own AD to an extent, is seeing – If you want to treat us like common consumers from your end, then don’t be surprised when we start acting like common consumers from our end and not folks with emotional attachments to your product.

I dont think so, or at least they dont express it like that. I have sent letters, emails, and made phone calls to let the folks @ B-M know my opinion on a number of things and everyone has always been very respectful and understanding.
