“We’ve still got enough guys to be two-deep.”

As bad as roster numbers have gotten on occasion, I never thought I’d have to hear Mark Richt offer that as a serious observation.

This, too:  “But we’re in desperate need of a great recruiting class in that area. I’ll say that.”

If you’re a highly rated high school defensive back, you’d be crazy not to consider a Georgia offer right now.

Remember after signing day we were worried about being over 85 scholarships? Good times, man.

But if you’re coming, remember to pack your cell phone charger.

In numbers, yeah. But how many PLAYERS? If we had 12 players, or even 5 or 6, we wouldn’t be “in desperate need of a great recruiting class in that area”.

Shoot, if you’re a defensive back with two arms two legs and breath, who gets an offer from Georgia, you’d be crazy not to take it.

There’s just not much on the roster right now in terms of experienced talent. (Most everyone we have is either experienced or talented, not both.) Truthfully, Pruitt could be doing a lot worse, given what he’s got to work with. We’ll see what he can put together for Mizzou.

Is it too late to hold open tryouts on campus? Surely someone can play DB#

What are the chances of asking Malcolm Mitchell to step in on D again?

This will most likely help in recruiting. Good DBs will get an opportunity to play immediately at Georgia. An awful lot of kids think that is the most important thing. One of the reasons that UT had such a good recruiting class last year was the prospect of immediate playing time. And, as has been pointed out previously on this blog, Pruitt will be able to sign “his guys” to fill the vacancies. Pass the Kool-Aid. 🙂

Let’s hope we get good kids. Otherwise, they’ll get the boot before they unpack.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea to also consider how Georgia got itself in this situation.

  11. Yet somehow 5 star DB Rico McGraw flipped to Bama. That’s a shame.

All this means is the defensive backfield probably won’t be much/any better next year. Adding a few true freshmen to those few among the current group who manage to stay on the team until next September doesn’t sound like a recipe for marked improvement.
