    Nick, you’re already turning into a DGD. He just seems to be a good kid who brings his lunch pail to work every day with the intention of doing whatever is needed to help the team win. To go from #4 on the depth chart to possibly SEC Freshman of the Year would be unbelievable.

      Yes and a C-Town resident, just moved back this year, said to see a future NFL RB not get a state championship. But I guess that is how it goes sometimes.

        Take it from someone who lives 15 minutes from Cedartown HS. No way were they winning a state title, even as good as Chubb is/was; they were allergic to the concept of the forward pass and they couldn’t defend it either.

          Dude, you are not lying. And this year, it has been worse as far as Passing goes. Heck the whole team is bad. Although last week they had that young kid spinning the ball on the side line and he looked like he had a nice arm. Tall, but man he literally looks like a Green bean he is so skinny. Once he got into the game, I was hoping to see him throw the ball.

    Still hard to believe how rich this team is at RB. And there may be one area in which Chubb has an edge even over Gurley–sheer endurance. You may, at times, detect some tired legs on TG II. But Chubb pretty much keeps banging away the same. As I recall, he rushed for over 2000 yards last year. They must have a helluva conditioning program at Cedartown.

      When you think about Marshall and Gurley both committing in the same class, and then Michel and Chubb following that to all be on campus at the same time it is unlike anything I have seen at other schools. It says a lot about the type of individuals they are, and also how they regard the way this UGA staff uses them, without over using them. Add that to UGA’s legacy on running backs, at both the collegiate and professional levels, and we have something going that is worth selling to upcoming talent. Now we are seeing Bobo begin to find ways to work all these guys into the offensive scheme to get them on the field at the same time. All very impressive.

    Throw Sony into the mix and the wealth we have at running back is just incredible. We shouldn’t miss a beat next year without Todd at all.

    All the tailbacks we’ve got are great athletes, that’s indisputable. But they also all seem to be good kids, too. Gurley’s chickenshit transgression aside, they all seem humble and polite and you never of them being locker room problems.

    I’m probably the only person on the planet who thinks this way (nothing new), but I’d start Chubb against Florida even if Gurley is eligible. I’m not saying Chubb is better than Gurley. He’s not. But he’s plenty damn good, and he hasn’t broken any rules that I know of. So, yeah, I’d start him.

    Y’all feel free to tell me why I’m stupid, now.

      Not stupid at all. Can you imagine Chubb softening “Go Gata” up for #3? It would be like the sword fight in “The Princess Bride” where Dread Pirate Roberts reveals he’s not left handed either. “Silly Gators, you thought that was our best running back…”

      WLOCP is a different breed of game. Loud, exciting and very chippy. Gurley’s been there, done that, knows what to expect. Don’t want a freshman hitting the hole the first time as the gator D converges, Feed the beast, then let Chubb at ’em when they are softened up.

        Once Gurley’s paid his debt…it’s paid. Two suspensions. Start the man and get him the accolades he deserves. Why humiliate him when he’s apologized and humbled himself in a way that is all too rare in this day and age? Chubb has earned everything..but if you asked Chubb he’s say “Start Gurley”, I’d be willing to bet.

      Like I said yesterday, put ’em both in there in a 2 back set. Who do you defend? And then maybe have Mason fake to one of them and take a shot at Conley or Bennett. Although at this point, I’m just inclined to say: whatever Bobo thinks best is okay with me.

        I would love to see some formations with Chubb as the lone back and Gurley in the slot. Florida wouldn’t know whether to shit or go blind. Does Gurley run outside routes? Reverses? That would be horrifying for a D coordinator.

          This is a great idea. Can Chubb throw it? The speed sweep would be scary enough. Gurley is a terrific receiver and the threat of a pass to him on top of Gurley on the sweep or Chubb keeping it would be really petrifying for the other team’s D.

      I’m hard pressed to think of something sillier than not starting Gurley because Nick Chubb played well in his absence. That is sentimental claptrap. Gurley has been a superstar since the moment he stepped foot on the field against Buffalo as a freshman. He has paid the price for violating an immoral and hypocritical rule.

      Assuming he’s back, he should start because he’s the best damn player in college football. It’s that simple.

      Come on, now. Start Chubb? There’s no doubt he performed well, but you don’t start Chubb. When AJ came back from suspension you didn’t hear any talk of not starting him, did you? Gurley’s the best back in the country, period. He starts.

    If we can get two TD’s up on the Gators we will cruise. I’m down here in Gatorland and this team is now a house of cards. They know that Muschamp is gone and it really doesn’t matter whether they win or lose. Now the Defense has a lot of pride and they are fast and strong. The offense is a hot mess but the freshman can hurt us with his feet. As usual we will be susceptible to the crossing patterns and the TE over the middle so the game comes down to who wins the turnover battle. If we don’t piss the bed, as UGA has done numerous times in the past, then we win.
