You know, I’m really digging this “SEC East’s struggles this year, outside of resurgent Georgia” line the WWL has wrapped its head around lately.
Of course, it would help immensely if the Dawgs would beat Auburn in a few weeks.

Well, Auburn will be a big fight as it usually is. But not just for us. For them also. Our guys won’t be skeert…but for now go pour gas on that dumpster fire that is The Florida Gators.

C’mon, it’s pretty common for players of Newton’s make up to transfer from a once mighty football school to Bling College. “Wait, what? Blinn? WTF is Blinn?”

SVP and his little buddy were talking earlier in the week and they were talking about how Georgia could “back door” it’s way into the playoff with the best win being against Mizzou, I guess they missed that we would also have to beat Auburn, the SEC West champ, and the fact that Clemson and Mizzou were both ranked plus the fact that Arkansas was due. Let the Dawg-grading continue.

I HATE the way David Pollack exuberantly picked against us TWO WEEKS IN A ROW and as soon as we curb stomped Arkansas he wss tweeting his ass off about how good the Dawgs are. I guess winning made him a believer. I lump hiim in with Mushcamp now. What a shame.

Maybe its good luck for him to pick against us? I say he should keep picking against us!!

David is just making sure he is not seen as a Homer–he is a DGD and always will be ! Just making a living

Yes..he’s the anti-Holtz….but he shouln’t automatically pick against the Dawgs to prove it. Georgia was favored in the Arkansas game and the should have not been a suprise to him. The size of the win was remarkable, though.

Pollack never described his time in Athens as temporary insanity or anything like that. He picks against us occasionally. He also speaks up for us when we do well. Most importantly, he was the single biggest contributor to our first SEC title in twenty years.
In my book, he doesn’t need to be a blind homer to remain a DGD.

Agreed. Some people have a pathological need for others to agree with them. It’s not like our up-and-down teams in recent years warrant elite program respect. Earned not given. Hopefully we’re seeing a sea change in 2014 rather than fleeting exception.

My issue is that he picked against us and then as soon as we win he’s tweeting how great we are. How about tweeting something like “my bad” or “oops” instead of never even acknowledging that he got it wrong? Even Herbie owns up to his screw ups or his bad picks.
Also, I don’t see “blind homerism” hurting Desmond Howard’s standing on the show.. He never picks agains Michigan.

Trev Alberts used to be a big UGA fan when he was on the WWL – and he got the boot. I think the Snellville Sacker is just playing his part. He carried CMR’s son across the field after we beat fu, so I know he loves the Dawgs and CMR.

Trev Alberts was fired because he refused to show up to work.

Actually it was because Trev was frustrated that clownish personalities got better gigs at ESPN than he did. The biz has been heading that way increasingly.

That’s a sympathetic take for why he refused to show up to work, but his beef was that Gameday was cutting into his air time, and while Lee Corso, is indeed a clown, I don’t think the same can be said of Fowler and Herbstreit, however much I dislike them.

He is a little more objective than Muschamp. Plus he was such a great player we can cut him and any other former Dawgs a little slack. I mean you’d much rather see them have success than to be a Pat Dye or Lou Holtz.

The Dawg-polling has begun with ESPN blocking any thought that we are the best in the land. You can feel them cheering for West teams since they have made such a big thing out of them and we just got past midseason. They have backed themselves into a media-hype corner and don’t want to acknowledge that their only way out is through Georgia.
Dumbasses.
Auburn will be the most fun game of revenge (yeah, the “miraculous reception” will be played up before the game like Aub planned the whole thing, whereas, they were beaten on the field) when we impose our will on them 3 yrs in a row. “Win another one for Aaron!” should be one of our cries.

That’s pretty much how I feel. Looks like they decide to all in on the west being great this year and I think we’re all being sold a bill of goods by espn et al. This whole the west is vastly superior and they are just beating each other up is starting to look more false every week.
Idk how good the Miss teams are this year but LSU is way down and Bama to a lesser extent. Arky hasn’t won a game in the SEC and just got killed by the Dawgs. A&M looks like crap and auburn isn’t the team they were last year.
Am I crazy for thinking the west is not as great as we’ve been lead to believe?

No shit. Stop whining about our lack of respect. Win out and we’re fine. Lose and we didn’t deserve it. Play the games first.

Being the superstitious soul that I am I have been thinking that all of this: “the SEC West is the best division in the history of the world evah” talk virtually assures that the SEC West champ will lose to the SEC East champ. If Georgia weren’t involved and they weren’t my team and the most likely SEC East champ, I’d be sure of it. The karmic bitches will have their due.

If cosmic comeuppance actually occurred, Auburn wouldn’t have a national title since 1957, FSU wouldn’t be riding a 20-something game winning streak, and Tech would have long since been swallowed into a hellish abyss.

I remember the comments made on this blog (some by me) in preseason and when the season was young that if our offense and o-line could get us to mid-season then we just might have a defense by that time. Well guess what? We’re a one-loss team that is being projected by some as a potential playoff contender. All was not lost in Columbia (e), nor with the suspension of Gurley. Either event could have been a season killer, and logic would suggest that both combined might very well bury us. But they didn’t.
In fact, everything is still on the table. Our defense and special teams are producing remarkably well, and numerous young players have stepped up to contribute. Our QB has gotten progressively better, and our coaches have coached up our team unlike anything in recent memory.
When #3 returns, it’ll be all the better. I know it’s one game at a time, but to see where we are at this point, and where we could possibly go, well . . . it’s good to be a Georgia Bulldog!

I can’t find where I read it at lunch today, but the SEC West’s mighty 22-0 record vs. nonconference, non-SEC teams includes a whopping two games against Power 5 conferences (Bama vs. WVU and Auburn vs. KSU.) That stat is such garbage; we’re talking cupcake city throughout the division.

You have a point, but remember that a bunch of those games came against SEC east foes. When you look at the numbers, there’s no question which division is better.
Still, in Atlanta, the east champ is gonna have a puncher’s chance. Just get there, baby.

I personally enjoyed the UF fans in the comment section rooting for us to win the game so Mushchamp would get fired sooner. I don’t care if Hitler (Evil Reicht?) were coaching us and running the spread, I could never root for us to lose to Florida.

I do happen to love the schadenfreude of watching other teams’ fan bases go crazy. Like the UF fans that think Spurrier is going to come back and save them. Or the South Carolina fans that are starting to realize that when you don’t luck into a Lattimore or Clowney coming out of your state every year that you start to slide back into the mediocrity that has always been USuC football.

Pollack should never be put in the class of Boom who publicly disavowed his Dawgliness and is now officially a deserter. Some of you act like the lunatic fringe of the Bama fans who think anyone who dares picks them to lose a game, or thinks any other team should be ranked ahead of them, is a hater, a fool, and should be fired. Are you that insecure boys? Nothing surprising about someone picking us to lose on the road at Mizzou 48 hours after the Gurley announcement. Not anything shocking about someone picking us to lose at Arky with their defense holding Bama to 66 yards and that big OL grinding out yards. After watching SC gut us in game 2 with their run, who could be 100% we go in and roll them.
Good for DP to speak what he thinks, he will go a lot further making good picks, analyzing games correctly, and not acting like Granny in making silly picks for all the schools that once employed him.. But like these two games David missed, he will be humbled as much as right. Night and day between his actions and Boom.

Speaking of being humbled, I have to check my picks before game time today. And speaking of Gameday pickers, everyone realizes that they don’t use a pt spread – they just pick’em. Wouldn’t you love to see them pick against the point spread like we do?
I don’t want to dig at the pickers; just when they mentally flock pick for the wrong reasons and lead people against thinking UGA can win out. That makes our move to 4th place or better problematic and wrapped with pick’em politics that will keep us low in the polls and out. To not get there because of pundits mind-blocking persuadable fans early in the season is causing unnecessary angst.

The playoffs, though I am opposed, are offering us this: I can’t really formulate any scenario of Georgia wins and losses that would keep us OUT of the playoffs yet I think we deserve to go, or vice versa.
If we win out except, say, lose to Tech…. but win the SECCG, for instance. That might be the only hard choice. That would likely mean two wins over top 5 teams and two losses to unranked / badly ranked teams. Then it could get interesting, but if we got left out you could hardly grouse about it.

Now if we could just have a rival college named “Jesus” that is all Protestant for the country to cheer for, I may go along with that. We probably could swing the Hispanic Catholics our way to tip the scales.
And that’s exactly why I’m against the media and ESPN’s cabal that will find no reason for UGA to be ranked above ND.

And Ole Miss will still be ranked ahead of us. Except for Michigan State, all the one loss teams ahead of us lost after us. Bammers one point win over Arkansas was just a good team beating another good team at their place. Our thrashing of Arkansas the next week was over another Arkansas. The one at the bottom of the west. The bad Arkansas. I remind myself that where we end up is completely in our hands but I still get pissed at this circus and hypocrisy. For some reason they want only a west team advancing.
On a slightly related note….Bo Wallace is the next _____ Claussen. More mouth than anything. Not only did he look bad ON the field he also constantly bitched at coaches and players and left the field before the game was over.
