This has been awful to watch. 13 points and 385 yds. 38 points and 451 yds.

Pruitt’s inexperience as an SEC DC really showed. He was clearly afraid to dare Florida to pass the ball. They spread the field and shifted one man into the wing and outflanked us the whole game. A 4-2 front will get you mauled against a line that big and quick.

At what point does he realize that they’re running the same four or five plays over and over again and that is the game plan? After the game ends, is that when he figures it out? We should have been daring them to throw from the start of the game.

Still not sure how a team with such a pitiful offense could crush us like that.
HM is a good kid, but he is not built to bring us back in games like that.
Here is hoping we can spoil Auburn’s season.(well, Beat KY first)

Hope we have some deep receivers coming in for next year. Plus some O-linemen, D-linemen, D-backs, etc. And why the heck ain’t Ramsey getting some snaps at the end of the game?

But I agree Mason looked indecisive many times resulting in sacks from his hesitation but the kid did hit 317 yards against a pretty fair secondary. It’s what he’s called on to execute that’s the problem…was Bobo anticipating a cakewalk?? Keep tryingDawgs…the brass ring’s still out there for us…..did everyone see Auburn..the luckiest team i CFB?

Yeah it’s the same story its been since Van Gorder left our offense has no margin for error. If they don’t light up the scoreboard for at least 40 we are highly likely to lose. We all knew Florida had a good defense. They are very legit on defense but Florida’s offense is terrible but they ran like Lombardi’s Packers today. Florida’s offense was truly Beyond Crompton today. I am hopeful and have seen some positives from Pruitt this year but this was a big step back for them. On a positive note I now feel good about the Auburn game. We’ll probably beat them now because we are Georgia and that’s how we roll. Go Dawgs. I’d rather be a Bulldog in defeat than a Gator in victory any day.

That’s ridiculous. Is Mason great? No. But OSU won a national title and sniffed another with Craig Krenzel. LSU won a NC with. QB that then decided to skip his Sr. year to go to dental school.

You can win without great QB play if you can manage the game. We lost because finally the drop off from Chubb to Douglas showed, because Richt coached scared and mismanaged a game yet again, and because Florida responded when they saw that we weren’t going to put them away earlier.

But blaming Mason is weak sause. This one, as much as any in a long time, falls directly on Filed Gial Jesus.

Drop off from Chubb and Douglas? Chubb ran for 150 yds and had another 50 receiving. We lost because we couldn’t set the edge, tackle or stop the run. We barely had the ball in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Unless Gurley was going to play LB or Safety, not sure how much of a difference he would have made. They ran for 418 yds and threw the ball 6 times

We looked absolutely terrible in all phases of the game! Out coached and out played, but the thing that upsets me the most (other than the final score and being woefully unprepared) was that we knew UF would rely heavily on running the football and Harris wasn’t a passing threat, yet we couldn’t figure out how to stop a one dimensional rushing offense with a freshman QB – absolutely no excuse especially with two weeks to prepare!

Also in your dream, didn’t the refs give us (blue team) a ton of huge breaks, such as setting the pick on a would-be tackler, allowing us to run for the longest play of ours for the year, blowing a field goal call early, not t mention, we were getting away with holding (on the perimeter, no less..) all game long.. It was incredible..
      (sigh) -_-

      Like

  16. uglydawg

Georgia mailed it in, no doubt…but have you ever seen a game where every damn break and call went for one team? It was awful. From the confusion over the first fg (one ref called it good) to the no call on roughing the punter, the no holding call on Fl’s fake FG, to the no-review of a UGA touchdown that I think was a catch. The two point conversion where the Fl defender was holding Chubb’s facemask….and the worst of all the homer assholes who called the game.
The whole thing just sucked CMR was outcoached and outsmarted by Boom. Georgia looked really unprepared. I wonder if they were overconfident. I knew Florida was a hungry and dangerous team that hadn’t caught a break all year…but now they’ve caught up on the breaks against Georgia.
    Kentucky looks daunting.

Yea, I did a few weeks ago against Mizzou. Literally every time they could have gotten back into it something happened. We had 2-3 fumbles that bounced back to us. The botched punt return where the ref called the fumble due to the catcher being ran into was a bad call and went against them.

This is what it is, a team that thought it was really good due to 2 good weeks of football.

Ala falls apart in the Shula era then is resurrected by Saban and wins 3 NCs – AU wins one NC w/ Gene freaking Chizik then falls apart then almost wins the NC last yr with Malzahn. We have no consistency on defense every year. There’s your common thread. The best of offenses have off nights. Cam Newton’s crowd only scored 17 at Miss State the year Auburn won the MNC. Championship teams have defenses that can pick their offense up on a bad night. Ours never does. Its all on the offense with us. We can’t win games 14-13. If our offense sputters we find ourselves down 3 touchdowns by the time they get it going. Then we are one dimensional. This was a historically bad performance defensively against a historically bad Florida offense. Pruitt has given me some hope this year that he might get it turned around and I am still hopeful but this game is a big step backward for our defense. We don’t have the trophy cases that Alabama, LSU, Florida, and Auburn has in the last 10 years because we never play defense the way those teams do year and year out and certainly never play it the way those teams do in their championship years.

Florida, meanwhile, had 27 passing yards and 418(!) rushing yards. So it’s easy to see where their points came from.

I don’t know if you can blame Pruitt but our defense got blocked right off the field in this game.

Our defense can’t handle the second worst offense in the SEC? Florida has a good defense. There was a decent chance the offense would struggle some. The Florida offense is dog shit, and they ran for over 400 yards. Good teams shouldn’t do that to any halfway decent defense. If CMR really believes his punter was roughed (as it looked) and if the injury wasn’t an act…he should have raised hell until he was ejected from the game to show his team he has their back. I’d love to see the man show some emotion…this team doesn’t play with emotion and it’s his responsibility to fix it. He should have stood on the field and yelled in the refs face until he was ejected…because if he believed it then he had to believe his kids were being cheated.

That’s Mason’s problem, is he either knows where he is going with the ball, pre-snap, come hell or high water, or he dances around in the pocket with happy feet until he is sacked. Except for that one time earlier Kolton Houston did his man a solid on the speed rush, didn’t touch him, only for his man to be beat out by Hunter Long’s man who got to Mason first. HONESTLY ask yourself: you kinda knew this might happen, right?

You knew our coaching staff would piss the bed and fail to keep our players motivated and realizing this was a serious game against a team backed into a corner trying to save their coach.

We spent 2 weeks losing our edge and getting soft, and got punched in the mouth.

How gutless was it to repeatedly not go for it on 4th and 1/2 to go around midfield?

DONT GIVE A TEAM LIFE THAT DOESN’T DESERVE LIFE.

We sustain those drives and go up 21-0 or 21-7 and things are very different. Let the downtrodden team wilt and decide “oh well, we aren’t supposed to win anyway.”

    You don’t give them HOPE.

Such a typical bed wetting by our program. From the way we handled Gurley, to the way we handle our roster management, to the way we handle bye weeks and games against weaker teams.

    Pathetic.

I am so sorry for our players. They deserve better. Well, at least they’ll get into the NFL and dominate like most UGA players end up doing.

Our game against Mizzou felt too good to be true. Everything went our way in that game, and that rarely happens. Likewise for the first half against Arkansas. My sense is that the Tennessee game is the most “this is who we are” game of the season. How good is Georgia, really? Good enough to beat a so-so Tennessee team. But if that’s right, and nothing changes between now and December, then I don’t see how anyone is confident that we’ll make it to Atlanta. And if we do make it to Atlanta, I expect it to be an SEC Championship like 2011 all over again. Proud that we’re there … but painful to watch.

Offense after 1st qtr looked like they did against Missouri. Not there. Our O line is getting the hell beat out of them. And in their defense D stack and close all the games because Bobo can never figure out how to get speed to the outside and creat lanes on the edge. He is a single back OC who wants to run dink play action and a featured TB up the middle. UF simply manned the WOs and pressured the gaps. Easy to defend a QB like Mason. He is not a threat to run to the edge or even get close to it.
I have a question about the O roster. They have been down to a single back after Clemson. Why? Where are these players…Scott Wesley, Jay Rome, Keith Marshall, Sony Michel. They have been injured all season and I’d be curious to see how many snaps they have for 13 & 14. Have a Gurley but he like Green misses a third of the season. And it happens when you only have a true frosh starting 4 road games.
When CMR was at FSU he had a Prescott, Dobbs, Marshall, and so on. Charlie Ward out of Central High School in Tville. Now he has another 5th yr sr out of Lassister. Why has CMR and staff brought along a QB like UF and UT are doing. The kid at Lee County throw better and plays better than Mason ever will. Injuries are part of the game but McClendon’s boys are always that way. King, Crowell, Marshall, Turman, and the list goes on. But CMR needs get control of his roster. Only one TE today. Only 1 RB today. And only 3 WOs. This is a deep not deep in skilled players.
Plus you would think Bobo could call a play or 2 where you can move the chains when facing 3rd and one or 3rd and 2. Worst damen 3rd down performance by an OC and offense ever at UGA

    • We don’t seem to have anyone who can get deep to the outside like in past years. And I’m not confident that Mason could get it to them if they went deep. I haven’t seen it yet. Biggest worry was how we got manhandled on both lines by a team that was hardly vintage UF talent. I hope we bounce back for five more wins, but UK and especially Auburn pose some real problems.
Good thing we’ve had easy schedules for the past couple of years. We’ve needed them. Recruiting generally has been strong, but I don’t know why we always get caught short on a replacement QB when we lose a Stafford or a Murray. I agree with you — that doesn’t make sense in a conference like the SEC.

Team did not show up tonight, and that’s totally on Richt and his staff. Florida was not even that pumped up – we gave them hope in the first half and then they got amped up.

On the field goal – do not understand why we don’t have a couple of guys on each outside hash mark to contain for field goals and a safety or whatever containment scheme makes sense. Are we afraid we will block fewer than the zero field goals we usually block?

No serious problems with the officiating – actually thought it was pretty good. Wah wah wah. Punter barely got touched – total grazing, incidental contact. Also, you want to get credit for your FG’s kick them through the uprights.

Mason obviously has some talent and it shows when he’s running the hurry up – he completed some nice passes toward the end of the game, and there were a couple of drops that should have been catches. We’ve heard he prefers that speed – so if you want him to “let ‘er rip”, then help him out by installing a faster, more instinctive rather than overly-cerebral game plan. I will never understand why we can’t start every game with the sense of urgency and that tempo during moments of the 4th quarter – although it still took us 5 minutes to run our 2 minute drill tonight – and run it full blast for four quarters.

Could not set the edge to save our lives.

Uncreative game plan from Bobo – unforgivable with two weeks to prepare and with the holes we have in our personnel. Where have our fullbacks gone – did I just miss them tonight? Why aren’t we getting McKenzie the ball in space or trying some sweeps with him or whatever, especially with our depleted tailback corps?

As I mentioned above, I think Mason is a pretty good quarterback. But if he’s not going to fit in Bobo’s scheme we may as well give Ramsey and Bauta some snaps every game.

This is the #10 team in the country with Gurley and the #20 team without him. That ain’t bad – I’m going to enjoy the rest of the season.

Not much urgency, lots of little mistakes that stopped drives/big plays, sloppy special teams. If we would have converted yard into points early on, probably would have been a completely different (good) game. Tide started to turn with our missed FG (another hallmark of a Georgia loss) and was complete with UF’s fake FG.

This year’s WLOCP is a perfect example. 3-3 FU beats 6th ranked 6-1 Georgia like a drum. But when in recent history has Georgia beaten a team that had more talent than Georgia? The Senator would point to 2013 LSU but I would say at the time of that game (before all the injuries to Dawgs players) that Georgia was the one with the superior talent. Putting aside LSU for the moment, name another. I can’t. Can any of you?

                • That’s a Richt UGA team. Always plays down to the other team’s talent in big games and has no killer instinct. As far as the clock management goes I’m not sure which MR team Vern and Gary have been watching for years to be surprised that Richt wasted 30 secs before calling a TO before the half. Hell, I was surprised he finally did call one. But of course I knew it was just so that we could see a couple incomplete short passes and a run before we hit the locker room.

Clock management is one thing, but FFS could we EVER try to be agressive at the end of the half? We just play to lose. If you’re not confident enough in your QB to let him throw more than a couple of five yard passes with over a minute left than he shouldn’t be playing and you’re not doing your job.

Coach and play like that against a long time rival will cost you support and fans. They tune you out.
No doubt the Gators are a much better team…coaches and roster. They had 2 weeks to prep a game and use a frosh qb with a program being dismissed by their supporters and alums…heck, they did not even fill all their seats. Maybe that is what the AD needs to see when the Dawgs come home from their legendary road trip. Did any other team have that many games on the road back to back. Should have had UT’s scheduel [brutal] or Missouri [cupcake].
Gators would beat us 10 out of 10 even with Gurley. When you watched these guys you knew they had the talent, but not the sparkplug to move their offense under Roper. The frosh qb changes their O big time. Have to respect his speed and quickness. Now think of Mason. Turtle and rabbit.
Now think of Muschamp and Richt. Muschamp will stay at UF. Why he has the coaches and players. Think not. Go position by position. The ledger falls in their favor.
In the end CMR’s 2011 dream team is a nightmare. Yesterday was the result. How many times could the Gators get to the edge…any time they wanted. Could they pass. I have no doubt they can in that offense. Plus they have the best receiver in the conference…kid out of Fort Valley.
Muschamp canned an OC. Hired a new one. Think CMR would do that. Not a chance…better chance than Dawgs beating UF again with the much maliagned Muschamp.
Bobo wins when he matches up against less talented and less physical players. His offense is built that way. Plus his Offense is very prone to not only take a play off or two, but whole quarters and halves. SEE GATORS AND HAWGS GAMEs.
How many plays did the O have against Arkansas and against UF where they could not make short distance, move the chains, and get 4 more snaps to play with.
Plus it would be nice if there was one damn season where CMR could have players available. The suspension list and injury list a UGA is a disgrace.
Look at the RB position. Only a true freshman Chubb and Brandon Douglas are it now. Can not play Green. Not with UK and Auburn coming up. He is desperately needed in the secondary, because those position were wiped out before the season started. Where is the depth at TE? There is none. But if Bobo will widen the field re running game with more gaps and speed he could pressure a defense and the scoreboard.
Now how many times did UF pull their guards to smoke the LBs. Hell they looked like trains going down the track. Plus there is not doubt to many of us that UF would have used a moving pocket against Dawgs D in their passing game.
Yesterday confirmed what some of us saw in the O against USC, Arkansas, and UF…it just disappears for long periods in a game.

Yes, everyone’s does disappear at times, but do they disappear for such extended periods? Ours disappeared Saturday at the 9 minute mark in the first quarter and didn’t reappear for the remainder of the first half. Then, IIRC, it had the ball about 2 minutes in the third quarter (3 & out , then 3 & fumble). That’s nearly three full quarters of disappearance, which will pretty much lose you any game, especially one against a hated rival with its back against the wall and its coach’s job on the line.

This is a maddening consistency under Bobo & Richt. To be fair, it may happen with the other SEC teams, but since I don’t follow them I can’t testify to that. It just seems to this long-time observer that the offensive brain trust is either unable or unwilling to fix the train when it goes off the tracks.

But that’s just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Lighten up. FU blocked better than we did and that was it. Once they figured out we couldn’t stop their running, it was over. It sucks but I predict we’ll show up to play again next week, and we may even win.

On 3rd & 6, the receiver needs to go 6+ yards downfield, not 4. On 3rd & 8, the receiver needs to go 8+ yards downfield, not 6. On 3rd & 10, the receiver needs to go 10+ yards downfield, not 8. Those 3rd down failures killed us and kept the D on the field far too long. Not sure which is worse, CMB judging the distance to the first down marker or CMR clock management. And WTF happened to our best-in-cfb LBs?

Dawgs really wasted a huge opportunity (again) this season. I thought the SECC was a definite. Looks doubtful now.

+1000. In the first quarter, 3rd and 4 inside the Gator 10 and we throw a 2 yard completion = a wasted down. The first of many WTF moments I had yesterday.

    • Yeah,I’m not sure which version of MR Vern and Gary have been watching for years but I was not only completely unsurprised that Richt wasted 30 secs before calling for a TO right before the half but was surprised when he actually did call one. Of course we all knew that it was gonna be two stuffed runs and and incomplete pass before we headed to the locker room anyway.

Not that I think this had eff all to do with the game but we are already playing Florida IN Florida so why would we agree to let them wear their home jerseys when it wasn’t their turn? Are we just the most hospitable team in the country?

Can someone explain why, after the Richard Samuel talent wasting, we are doing the same thing with JJ Green? Why move him back to RB if you aren’t going to play him when nothing else is working?

  75. After the missed field goal, this game quickly reverted back to the 20 year pattern of Georgia play in Jacksonville. This time we did not have the overwhelming talent to barely pull off a victory against an over matched team. We got punched in the mouth and it was easy to see the pattern of play start all over again. The stars are no longer aligned in this series, so I don’t expect anything different next year save some sort of foundational transformation in our program.

I won’t give up on this team, however having lived through this series the last 20+ years, I am not going into this game with any expectations other than poor, soft, tight and unimaginative play. I don’t have any answers and neither does Richt.

It does make me grateful for the last three victories however. Three in a row has been fantastic.

Nail on the head. The FG in a 25-30 mph cross wind is always the right call for Field Goal Richt. That my friends was the play that gave them hope. The fake FG was the play that finished off our 3 year run. The rest was just an awful example of as our DC said getting our butts beat. I know that UF fans love the fact that they beat us but so did a lame duck Ron Zook so I still thing barring a miracle we wasted a perfectly good game trying to save Muschamp’s job. IF the team is good enough to beat UGA why has it struggled all year? Muschamp is a bad HC but he still beat our butts when it counted just like the Happy Zooker.

Yep. Georgia fans certainly get a kick out of their rivals’ coaching escapades, but plenty of time the joke is on us. Zook? Fulmer? Kiffen? We’re gleeful when Spurrier throws his visor, tosses his headphones, and loses another game…but he still owns us. Now add Muschamp to the list. He IS a bad HC, and no way he isn’t fired, but he just coached the worst Florida team in over 25 years to an ass-kicking over Georgia. Sad.

Not getting all the Mason hate on here. My observation was a game plan that fully expected Florida to implode. Our coaches waited until it was too late to respond after that didn’t happen. Putting any of this on the players is misguided.

I don’t hate Mason. I’d just rather see someone else at QB. All things considered, I’m not convinced that Ramsey would be much of a downgrade from Mason at the position, and I think the program would be better off getting him some big-time reps.

  77. To anyone else at the game….I know I’m not the only one to notice how, for lack of a better word, dead it felt in that stadium yesterday. I mean it was eerie before kickoff. Scott Howard was so dead that I turned my radio off when we got that turnover after our first TD.

Just had to make a detour off 75 for some soul food my heart hurts. I can handle losses but this is an insult.

Out coached. Out played. Out hustled, by an inferior team with no offense and a freshman QB. We are too cautious on 4th and short. We could have broken their will early in the game, but punted. We recover a fumble and get nothing. All the years I have been going to that game, this was the only year where I thought we would beat them soundly. This was just humiliating.
