Saban’s team never takes Utah or Oklahoma lightly cause he’s asshole.

If you don’t want to see quotes like this, watch adults play sports. As long as teenagers are involved, there are going to be some moments where you can do nothing but shake your head.

      • Stupid analogy. Bowl games are dog and pony shows.

Saban may not beat LSU and Auburn every season, but his teams don’t shit the bed and smear the walls against the most serious rivals like CMR does with regularity. Hell, we wet the bed against Vandy last year.

The same team we were up 38-6 on, Bama beat by a blocked extra point.

Oh, and bowl games are dog and pony shows, except when we lose one and it’s a complete indictment of everything the program does wrong, going back to the hiring of Johnny Griffith.

Utah and Oklahoma games were let down bowls for alabama. Have they lost the big game when they got a shot at it? No. Yeah they struggled against Arkansas but they WON! Fact is, for what ever reason, we are good for at least one bed shitting every year. Alabama loses games. Theyve lost like 5 of them since 2009. We lost 5 last year. They just don’t get totally run over by their arch rival during conference play. Especially an inferior arch rival.

The Sugar Bowl was a let down game that can be excused? Would you say the same about UGA’s Liberty Bowl loss to UCF?

Yes. I would say it was a let down for Georgia but it can’t be excused because that entire season was an epic failure. Bama’s season that year wasn’t an epic failure. They were in national title contention all year. Its a let down to go to the sugar bowl and play freakin Utah instead of playing for the Natty. Georgia was lucky to even be in a bowl game that year. Their whole season was a let down. Bama went on to go undefeated the next year, win the NC and then proceeded to follow that up with 2 more NC’s. It’s a lot easier to excuse things when you do that, yes?

Sorry. I can’t follow your logical flow chart. Playing Utah is an excused loss, even if it’s in the Sugar Bowl. Especially if you do well the next year.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see whether the loss to Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl was excusable depending on how Alabama finishes this year. Hell, maybe it takes two or three years to figure out the excusable losses versus the inexcusable losses. Get back to me in 2017.

Ah hell, Ramik, I forgive you…7/8ths of the folks who appear here did the same thing. Even some of us who pretended to be worried. (blushes deeply)

But, moving on, how come some of the Georgia women’s soccer players wear white uniforms and at least one wears green?

Team leadership will need to prepare themselves and the team for a 60-minute-plus fight with Kentucky. We got by with a 33-minute effort against Arkansas and that bad habit continued into the next game. Let off the gas in an SEC season and you will get beat.

It is a choice and a commitment they will have to make.

I guess I am living in an alternate universe. When kids like Ramik don’t have to remember 20 years of humiliation at the hands of the gators. That has to be blissful not to remember the flea flicker at home with a few minutes left so spurrier could get to 50 in Sanford. I think I am gonna up my mess and have my shrink clear his calendar for the next few weeks.

    • He didn’t remember 20 years of humiliation by the haters. As a 3 year old in Tampa he would not have noticed the GA/FL game. His frame of reference probably began about 2009 during high school, and the results then didn’t humiliate him. He had never played in a losing game to Florida.

These guys are kids. The Spurrier at Florida years were as bygone as the Trippi at Georgia years were when I was a UGA student.

We heard this comment as recently as last week with Arkansas, with South Carolina in September, and with Auburn’s pass rush last year.

Just another day of loafing at The Georgia Country Club.

I can’t figure it out, either. I’m sure that Richt tells his players to take every game seriously. I’m sure that the coaches didn’t spend the bye week focusing on Kentucky. But every year the UGA players decide that there’s one game, one conference game, where a win is guaranteed and effort isn’t required.

Now, I don’t really think that UGA kids are unique in this regard. Last year, the Alabama kids said they took Oklahoma too lightly in the Sugar Bowl. If you think the WLOCP is a big game, I think the Sugar Bowl is bigger. But there must be a way to convince players to give some effort in all conference games.

If the head coach doesn’t respect his opponent, his players won’t either.

If the head coach is too laid back to care what parts of his program get exposed to the media, his players won’t care either.

  19. I’m just not sure I remember a worse loss since Richt took over. I have almost always been able to think of a defense/excuse for him when the trolls pick on or team or espn shows us no “respect”. But I just feel like I can’t get over this loss. I can’t understand why Richt coached this game so passively. I didn’t like settling for 3 point try early on and I was left in sheer amazement when we didn’t call a time out inmediatkwy following UF’s last possession of the 1st half. I thought well, I guess we are going to let it run out, but then we finally call the TO and then just sit in the ball when we get it back. That’s just bad coaching. Then, after the debacle, Richt says, there was good effort, they all tried hard, but the execution was lacking. Try to square that with Ramik telling us what we all already knew and Richt looka clueless. I am just left wondering where we go from here. How can you ever hope to win anything of consequence when you can’t get players to take Florida seriously?

  20. From Seth Emerson:

Richt, summing up what happened in the loss to Florida:

“Every once in awhile a team has a game like that. You don’t want that to happen. I doubt if we played them five more times any one of those games would go like that.”

If by every once in a while, he means at least once a twice a season for UGA, then well, ok.

Funny how Richt thinks it was an execution issue, not an effort issue but his DC and Sr. LB are publicly saying it was an effort issue. Apparently not everyone on this team is in the same arena.

      • Being willing to publicly acknowledge the players did not play with the intensity and effort required to win a rivalry game is different than throwing them under the bus. You can acknowledge a fact without placing blame.
