“As soon as it can be done, it’ll be done.”

Richt softens the coaching staff’s blow about the new IPF.

“But the thing I want to reiterate is it’s gonna happen, it’s a matter of time,” Richt said. “We just want to do it right. And I’m very excited and thankful for our administration and the board, the president, everybody who is in the middle of allowing us to get this thing done.”

If I didn’t know any better, I’d say McGarity is getting a dose of good cop/bad cop.  (And even Richt admits recruits have asked him about when one will be built.)

If I had to guess on a time for ground breaking, I’d say not as soon as Pruitt is hoping for, but sooner than McGarity originally intended.  Which means airing it publicly will have worked.

  1. After the thread the other day I started looking at other schools that have IPFs. Really, if Clemson and Ole Miss can build them, I think we can swing it.

    Build the damn thing

If only one school in the SEC had a IPF, then I could see the lag on getting it done, but when you are about to be the only school in your conference without one. You damn well better be getting it done. Pruitt is exactly correct about how people recruit against UGA. They cannot really attack Richt, but they sure as hell will abuse the fact that everyone over Richt’s head would make you think Football was not even profitable at UGA with how they act to the public.

  3. if you build it, they will come.

  4. Nothing will get the administration moving faster than when a coach implies we aren’t getting recruits because of _______. There are things the donor base will abide, but not gettin’ the best ‘cruits ain’t one of ’em. Close them borders Paawwwllll.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Now it’s time for the UGA coaches’ wheel of fortune to start squeaking. They should have top or near the top salaries.

It’s long overdue. In the meantime we make our staff look like stupid shits to their peers for staying. Richt and Bobo prove every year that they are loyal to a fault.

Pruitt’s felt this way since he got here. I love that he goes public the week after his defense made Auburn its bitch. Dude’s gotta be feeling pretty confident these days.

  7. Relocate the track facility and build the indoor practice facility there. But go ahead and BUILD THE DARN THING!!!

I read Mark Richt’s comments as well. I didn’t take it as a good cop routine. I took it as trying to keep in line with the athletic ddepartment without throwing his DC under the energy bus.

+1 I think it played out well. CJP got the headlines to make sure the strong message was sent and Richt backed him enough without taking all the heat off. Timing was good as it came from a position of strength and at a time a large number of highly rated recruits were just leaving campus and couldn’t miss it.

Yeah, he gets asked when you have top recruits and parents travel to summer camp like this past one…only to stand out in the rain and wet fields.

It should’ve been built already. Glad CJP doesn’t have any second thoughts about putting pressure on administrators to get off their a$$es and get it started.

  11. Our long nightmare really needs to come to an end.

I cannot believe how long this has been an issue… 😦
