Barring an extremely unlikely confluence of events (something on the order of a combination of Georgia Tech shutting the Dawgs out and Mississippi State scoring 50+ in the Egg Bowl), Georgia is going to finish the 2014 regular season leading the SEC in scoring, both in conference and total. Not Texas A&M. Not Mississippi State. Not Auburn. Not South Carolina. Georgia.
Given that he’s coached with a truncated season from Todd Gurley, a quarterback who’s gotten little respect and a receiving corps that’s taken most of the year to round into physical shape, I think Mike Bobo is entitled to take a little bow.
You ain’t kidding. Terrific job.

+1,000 we all hear people spew all kinds of crap with the tiniest questionable call Bobo makes, but hardly ever a word about the good. Give the man his due… and pay him what he deserves to be paid and stop being a cheapskate !

Bobo should definitely take a bow. Well earned.
As for Mark Richt, it looks like laying his annual egg will cost us dearly, yet again, as Mizzou is poised to win out. So no chance at an SEC title, no chance to avenge our Bama 2012 loss, no chance at the playoff, all because he couldn’t get them ready for one of the worst Florida teams in 30 years. Take a bow, Mark Richt!

Sounds like you’ll be disappointed if Arky pulls out a win this week.

Arky beat the hell out of Ole Miss tonight. I think they’re coming on a roll at just the right time for us. If they end up being the spoiler, I hope they leave those goalposts up this time so people can indeed tear them down.

Tenn didn’t match up well with Mizzou – young QB vs a tough DL and pass rush. Ark does match up really well – excellent D and a pounding ground game. I think Ark can pull it off.

A few things give me pause about the MIZZ-ARK game. First, Mizzou has already beaten two teams (TAMU, UT) coming into the game with some momentum, like Arkansas will. Second, Arkansas’ QB left with an injury (not sure whether he’ll be back, or how much drop-off there is with his brother, the backup, or how much it even matters, given the Hogs’ run-first tendencies). And third, that Mizzou D-Line is playing with its hair on fire. They know that they have to shoulder the load for Mizzou to win. And as we showed, Arkansas is vulnerable to the speed rush.

Mizzou’s DEs are good at rushing the passer but only so-so against the run. Arky will run ’em to death.

I won’t be disappointed obviously. But we’ve all seen this before as UGA fans. A team gets geeked up with a couple of games, and the the week we need to depend on them, they end up rolling over either because they are emotionally exhausted or just because that’s how things happen to us at UGA fans.

Think whatever you want, but that was not the worst fla team in 30 years. We beat that team in 2013. You know, the one that went 4-8. To say that this team is the worst is just inaccurate.

Does accurately calling it the third worse Florida team in 30 years make it better?

Don’t get on the Gus Bus. He has laid four conference eggs in two years. Probably will be five by this point next week. Even Saban has laid enough conference eggs to have won just two conference championships in his seven years. Urban Meyer laid a conference egg each year at UF.
Every coach will lose some conference games. Only undefeated SEC championship coach in the ten years from 2005-2014 was Gene Chizik. He must be the best of the lot.

That truth sarcasm is going to leave a mark on a lot of egos. Good post.
By the way, I flick to the SEC channel to see if our rerun is on and off again if it ain’t the Dawgs – except when Chizik and/or Matt are on. I’ve become a Chizik fan with his insightful, original and experience-based comments. You can tell that he is upwardly mobile in that organization, along with Matt. Chizik doesn’t put out the warmed – over comments of others. He strikes me as a bright commenter, just the opposite of my view of him as Aub Coach.

No sour grapes for me. I appreciate the significance of an SEC coach winning at a 74% rate, especially since no UGA coach has won at a rate do high in history.

I saw an interesting stat yesterday, in the 7 seasons since Michigan fired Lloyd Carr, Michigan has had 5 seasons with six or greater losses in the 40 seasons before that they had only one such season. Like Tennessee, Michigan is a cautionary tale against listening to the slobbering “downward trajectory” dumbass segment of the fanbase.

Yes, but look at all the programs who ditched coaches who won 74% of their and then went on to win NCs with other coaches. I mean, there’s got to be one or two out there, right?

I am pretty certain OSU dumped John Cooper for this reason. I think his winning % at OSU was similar to Richt’s. They hired Jim Tressel and his cheating ways. Won them a NC and an appearance in a couple of other games. He is the only one that I can think of.
LikeLike
Cooper was 2-10-1 against Michigan, that’s what got him fired. His overall winning percentage was .702, certainly not bad. Richt’s at .742 which is significantly higher and I don’t think anybody believe’s Richt would still be around if he had gone 2-10-1 against Georgia Tech. All told Richt is 12-1 against Tech, 9-5 against Auburn, 9-5 against Tennessee, and 5-9 against Florida. Donnan by contrast was 6-14 against those same four teams, and let’s not talk about Ray Goff.

If Florida has not at least thought about him, they’re dumber than hell. Yeah, yeah, another Georgia guy and all that, but if it wasn’t for that, you know they’d be all over him, and he’d be perennially in the discussion for the next big coaching job. Y’all talk about not keeping Pruitt long. If Mike Bobo takes a HC job, I hope we don’t play them.

“…a quarterback who’s gotten little respect “
I would like to think and believe that nonsense has come from a very small and idiotic minority and has not been the reaction by the majority of UGA fans this season. We’ve debated this ad nauseum to establish Hutson Mason’s likely legacy for Georgia…a DGD who did everything that was asked of him (including staying with the program, waiting his turn, working hard, and executing the offense as per his coach’s desires). Best of success to him whatever the future may entail.

I think a lot of Murray lovers don’t like the fact that he does not put the defense in impossible situations with turnovers like Murray did, repeatedly. In every big game, Murray was good for three turnovers and one was generally a pick six. Murray is/was the player version of Richt since 2007; good, but not great and loved by the fans regardless of his on field results. Great stats, but nothing of real value to show for it, again, much like Richt.
Mason is a great qb, I wish he had another year.

Seriously, the idea that the only way to appreciate Mason is by denigrating Murray is tiresome at best and truly obnoxious at worst.

No matter the person, I don’t like comparison’s unless someone is trying to identify a relatively unknown player with a player we would recognize. It denigrates both parties. Mason is our iconic QB of 2014; he’s the man. Murray is our honored QB alumnus who found time to return for yesterday’s game to cheer Hutson onward.
Great Dawgs, bof’of’em.

OK, I apologize and take it back about Murray. He is a DGD and has some great stats. I do think the offense has made the defense’s job much easier this season by practically eliminating the turnovers that were so maddening the past few years.
I still like having Mason and wish he had another year. I hope Ramsey can get polished in the offseason.

Your point is to do a little trolling and rile up the Murray crowd and make no mistake you can probably do that. But the facts are that Bray had an extra year in the NFL before Murray got to the Chiefs. Murray was rehabbing a blown ACL and Bray still couldn’t convincingly separate from Murray- even then. Chiefs never intended to get Murray right into the mix preferring instead to bring him along slowly. Glad Mett is getting a chance to start. It will give the earlier starter a chance to heal that thumb and ankle. Maybe he will even win a game who knows? Why the asshattery?

Actually, no, it doesn’t continue. AM was the best QB on our roster and that is why he started. You are too stupid to realize how absurd it sounds to suggest that CMR and CMB are so incompetent that they can’t distinguish b/w the best QB and 2nd best QB on their roster. Unless, of course, TXBalls you are actually Bill Parcells or some other retired NFL HC trolling a college fan site. Bill, is that you?
Tools like you bitched for years that CMR “chose AM when it was clear ZM was the winner of the spring game”. As if looking good in the spring game excuses lifting the skirt of a waitress, pinching her ass and then lying to CMR about the circumstances.
When not bitching about how much better ZM is, you spent your time screaming for HM to start. As if your epic wisdom somehow outweighs the coaches watching these players day in day out for years.
