The Broyles Award is garbage.

Honestly, I’m not sure I want to live in a world where Lane Kiffin (Alabama, #30 in scoring offense) is a finalist and Mike Bobo (Georgia, #7 in scoring offense) isn’t.

(I won’t even go into Grantham vs. Pruitt here…)

I agree with the heading, but consider the source. The Rotary Club of Little Rock watched Coach Bobo destroy Arkansas and its defensive coordinator, a finalist, in their own backyard. I attended that game, and the UGA section was a full blown party before halftime that only got rowdier as the game went on. I am not surprised that some old guys in Little Rock will not be awarding anything to UGA this season.

The voters got their opinion of Bobo from reading the Georgia boards and listening to section 104 commentators.

Agreed, though I can’t believe Kiffen is a favorite in those parts either. Obviously somebody needed to write down some names and these were all they could think of.

“We Don’t Hate You because You’re beautiful, We hate you because you’re a bitch.” One of my favorite jokes from 80’s early 90’s comedian George Miller (from Seattle, on Letterman a lot) in response to that commercial. Thanks for bringing me back…the 80’s were indeed a great time!

I would like to know where the nominations came from but the list is indeed laughable. How could Bobo be left off a list that long?

Bobo hung 34 points on Steckel, 45 on Robb Smith, and 45 on Venables.

Perhaps he shouldn’t have taken a knee in each of those games. 😉

  8. Simply unfathomable. Maybe he is a victim of his own success where they do not consider him against the field, but rather against his own past performances. Or maybe they look at his salary and figure anyone who makes so much less than his peers must not be that good.

I’m tempted to post some facts on their FB page, but figure why bother. That’s a half step away from Dawg Vent material anyway.

Coach of the year will go to Gary Pinkel who is poised to lead a mediocre Missouri team back to the SEC championship. Seriously, we are scared that we can’t win without Richt but Pinkel takes half the talent and does more than we can (ie beat USCe and FU).

    • I guess you conveniently forgot the 34-0 whipping we put on Pinkel’s boys in Columbia.

But loses to Indiana at home. Hmmm, would I rather lose to a talented team or a team from Indiana.

In a rivalry were teams have equal talent, sometimes you lose when you should not and sometimes you win when you should not. But losing to Indiana at home trumps losing to SC at their house or UF in florida. And it ain’t even close.

I see your point. We were outperformed in our division by a team that got beat by the crud of the Big Ten. It sounds so much worse when you say it.

Sure rivalries make for funny outcomes but there’s no excusing the Florida loss. At some point we run out of excuses.

Are you saying you would rather have Pinkel? Are you saying you would rather have Mizzou’s season? I say no to both.
If they make it to the SECCG they will get destroyed like last year and end up where? Nashville or Jacksonville? We beat ranked Clemson, ranked Mizzou, improving Arkansas, ranked Auburn, will beat ranked tech, and have a chance to get to the SECCG but you just want to bitch about Florida, have you enjoyed any season since 1980 because this has been one of the most enjoyable years for me.

Absolutely I would take Pinkel. If he can get to SEC championships at Missouri imagine what he could do at UGA. Why is Richt the only option for you people. He’s a great coach, sure. But it’s been nearly 15 years and we still finish each season with some head scratching losses. I’d take a little change. Look at what the change at D coordinator did for us.

How many times has Bobo been mentioned on ESPN/CBS this season? How many times has Kiffin?

They’ve got three co-offensive coordinators on the list.

I haven’t really understood the praise for Kiffin. He’s fine as an offensive coordinator, but nothing special. I don’t think he’s particularly good at adjusting if Plan A isn’t working. Basically, if you can limit Amari Cooper, you can largely control their offense.

I’m tellin y’all – this is the kinda shiz that will affect things like, oh, I don’t know…the officiating in the SECCG…especially if it’s Bammer in the best. Rodney Dangerfeld vs espn cash cow.

It’s simple, McGarity removed CMB’s name from consideration to avoid a potential pay hike.

I just read through the nomination process for the Boyles award…apparently it looks like CMR just didn’t nominate him.

I agree with Joseph. If you read the nominating information, a head coach can only submit one name for consideration to the committee. When you have both Bobo and Pruitt on your staff, how do you make that choice? You don’t.

So we don’t get an asst coach nominated for an award which is named in honor of a guy who coached at Arkansas? Big Deal. After Mizzou loses to the Hogs, let’s beat tech, win the SECCG, get into the four-team playoff and then win it all. That sounds like a good plan to me. Awards are generally dumb when it comes to sports anyway. Winning is what counts.
    GO DAWGS!
