“Because I never wanted to screw over Gurley.”

Pardon my French, but fuck you, Bryan Allen.  Because if you’re really trying to convince people that you didn’t mean to hurt anyone when you went running around looking for somebody in the media to leak your signing story or that your “intentions were not financially motivated”, you’re a damned liar.

On the other hand, I’m glad you’ve got regrets about how it’s gone down.  And that Todd Gurley in a year’s time will have more money in the bank than you’ll ever deposit.

Feel free to disappear now.

UPDATE:  This is what denial sounds like.  Or bullshit smells like.  Take your pick.

I ever see this guy in person, I’m going to break his jaw. But I’ll say I regret it afterwards,

If he feels so unwelcome in Georgia that he has to go pump gas for a living in Columbia or Gainesville….what’s wrong with that?

With that NFL money, Gurley should hire a guy to follow this putz around, constantly pointing and laughing at him.

As I hear Nelson Muntz going “Ha-ha!” in the background, it occurs to me that no-one has made this connection to Allen.

Forgive and forget, man. Nobody put a gun to Gurley’s head and forced him to accept money for signing items. If you want to get mad at someone, get mad at the NCAA for, as the article described, doing a signing for cash feel like some sort of drug deal taking place. Absurd.

Besides, that Allen guy isn’t exactly the smartest guy in the world based on his YouTube videos and other interviews. He’ll most likely continue in a state of drift for the rest of his life while doing much of nothing in the process, with Gurleygate being the only real thing he’s known for, as pathetic as that may be.

Didn’t he apologize several times and state over and over that he wished the wh thing never happened?

Either way, yes, you can and should forgive even those who don’t ask for forgiveness, as there are many who simply don’t possess the intelligence or mental maturity to truly reflect on and acknowledge their actions.

Yes. As mentioned the guy isn’t all that bright, coupled with his clear lack of mental maturity and awareness. He dug a deep hole (that garnered death threats) that he’s now desperate to crawl out from, so of course he’s going to continue to obfuscate in some fashion.

You’re viewing this from a much higher intellectual prism than he’s capable of, which, respectfully, is a mistake on your part. But hey, we all do this from time to time. I particularly have a nasty habit of overestimating people all the time and expecting more from them than they are capable of.

I agree it’s a mistake to attempt to understand Allen’s actions through a rational, intelligent prism. But — to be fair — in addition to lacking maturity and awareness, he also lacks honesty.

In a world of personal responsibility, I’m not sure what’s to forgive. Gurley paid a price for some bad decisions. Now Allen is paying a price for his.

Exactly. In addition to being a scumbag, he’s clearly a liar, too. It’s just self-rationalizing/justifying bullshit, portraying himself as some side-character in all of this, despite his peddling the story to numerous news outlets. Even if he’s not a genius (he’s not a moron either), he’s had plenty of time to reflect upon this situation–and it appears he still won’t acknowledge or admit (much less ask for forgiveness for) his worst behavior. This is exactly why most shitheels stay shitheels.

The guy is feeling sorry for himself and making himself out to be the victim. He’s not that dumb; he knew how to turn otherwise cheap goods into a profit. That my friend is a businessman, and he is giving us the business. It has nothing to do with intellect. Now if you want to forgive him go ahead …I don’t think he cares about that but go ahead. I choose to do the opposite.

I’m disgusted that the media keeps giving him air time. If they are going to let him talk to the public at large, put him where the public can talk to him.

I don’t see where he’s feeling sorry for himself, but even if he is, then I simply chalk it up to (again) his overall lack of intelligence or awareness. Speaking of intellect, it doesn’t take much of it to realize that an item signed by perhaps the most popular athlete in the state is going to suddenly be worth more than is original price tag. We’re not exactly talking orchestrating a hostile takeover of a Fortune 500 company via activist investing here.

By the way, just because I choose to forgive and forget doesn’t mean I want to suddenly hang out with the guy over a few beers. I certainly wouldn’t want to be his friend or want him as my neighbor.

He single handedly ruined the season.Follow me:
-Gurley gets four games instead of two. The team, expecting their leader back, plays uninspired ball against UF
-Losing to UF puts us behind the eight ball with Mizzou in the East
-If we had won the East, we’re not deflated and listless against Tech after watching our last chance fade away the day before. We pound the jackets

At least this is what I’m telling myself 😉

Nothing personal was intended. I want our program to stand up for itself and stop letting non-football issues continue to destroy our seasons. Those that run the program owe it to the players and those who support them.

I like your reasoning. No searching for a new coach, no wasted breath, no unresolved angst.

So he got trapped into this because Smith needed $250 and his transmission was bad so he ratted Gurley out because “I was being set up.” Sounds exactly like a drug deal but NCAA doesn’t suspend for drug deals do they? The schools do that.

Looks like we had us a real spy thriller going this year. We had Agent Muschamp in a very high place, but we were trumped and defeated by Florida’s Agent Allen.
Here’s recommending D. Dooley to UF for their new head coach. After all, he knows the SEC East, he has experience at a big time program and he already has some orange pants that would look cool with blue shoes.

  12. I suppose everyone has a lesson to learn here. You do business with shitheads, you’re bound to get some shit on you. It sucks that Gurley was suspended and the season tanked. It also sucks that Mr. Allen has had his sorry life made even sorrier. Them’s the breaks.

Georgia will move on, and this will be one of those bitter memories that makes us want to spit on an Auburn fan five years from now (because that’s what UGA fans do, right?). But Mr. Allen will be a loser forever. I pity the guy. This is the pinnacle of his existence. He’s relevant for fifteen minutes, but in those minutes he is found to be a liar, unemployable, and a douchebag. Now that sucks.

Dead time at ESPN and SI. Have to have some kind of filler. They’d be better served to run a spread of bathing suit beauties post season. Sure they would sell more copies.
After all, for them, Allen, and Gurley it is all about money. Sure Hugh Freeze and his agents sent a “thank you” note to Foley. Just like McGarity sent one to Allen.
Somethings in life you do not forget or foregive. This falls in that category.
Maybe at some future date Jan Kemp, Allen, ESPN, and SI can have a reunion and invite Life Magazine in for some profit comparisons.
My sentiments, “to hell with them forever!”

The real fun is the Florida fans have for the most part kept their mouths shut about this whole thing. Some things are just too slimy to get too close to. Every year we have had some incidents that distract the team. Maybe we are just not good at recruiting quality individuals that can play football and not commit crimes/infractions/smoke dope or whatever but the “boys will be boys” argument coming from our fans doesn’t matter since the AD doesn’t think too much of it. We are a 9-3 team I’m seeking inter-peace with it.
