In yesterday’s Hawaii Bowl, Rice RB Jayson Carter, all 4’9″/140 pounds of him, got in for a play, gained a couple of yards and took a pretty good lick, to boot.
He’ll always be a college football player.

“And Georgia fans, don’t be turds. Enjoy this. Soak it up. It’s awesome. If you don’t win this year, it’s still not a failure. It’s a heck of a run. Back-to-back in the Playoff era hasn’t been done. So, to ask for a third I feel like it’s gluttonous. I feel like it’s not OK. But we’ll be in the mix.”-- David Pollack, On3.com, 5/9/23
that was terrific

Jay Carter bringing the pain. Degree in computer science. If all “student” athletes were like this guy, many of the problems of college football would disappear.

Can bet every coach and player on the sidelines respect him. If you walk-on any D1 team, practice, show up for meetings, training, classes, they know you are a player. Suited up and traveled. Hell yeah, Jay. The older he gets the more he will respect the field, game, players, coaches, and the competition.
Commitment, loyalty, passion, relationships, and devotion longer than less than two minutes left in a game and a five yard run.

Great story and clip about the young man…but not a reason why I love (hate) the diluted and insignificant bowl season.

It’s only insignificant to you. Bowls aren’t about YOU.

He’s right. Its not about you. Its about your wallet. But that’s ok if it allows for moments like that. Great clip

How are they significant in terms of competitiveness? …if you mean with the players, pride, family ok…but fan attendance and player effort in some games would suggest otherwise

Kindof like the regular season too, don’t you think?

It’s more football. Soon we’ll have only the methodone of reruns on ESPN classic, and it seems like we’re the loser in about 75% of those. We could have 64 bowl games and I wouldn’t complain.

Not sure of your issue. Does someone make you watch? Or even comment on this clip?
Have you ever attended a Bowl Game? Been around the players, etc? They work hard, and deserve a little fun time, IMHO.

That’s good stuff. Liked how the defender that gave him that tough lick gave him a couple of pats on his helmet, too.

Bobo saw that clip and got a little misty-eyed…”I could have run the DRAW with that guy”.

You can’t hang one up there like that and not expect a guy to swing for the fences.

Saw this guy play last year at a Rice game. Great story on the kid. He will be very successful at whatever he does. One of the reasons I like college football.

I think I’ve seen a story about this kid elsewhere. I believe he is over the top brilliant, in addition to being a college football player. Good for him…I’d like to hire that guy.
