I just want Spurrier to retire while he can still serve at least one season as a commentator for the SEC Network. I’d pay extra to see/hear Spurrier on his back porch with a Bud Light giving his thoughts on the games that week. Extra credit if he’s on F-Bomb’s show to mock Paul and all his callers.

    • Spurrier would be a great replacement for Holtz..perhaps the Charles Barkley of SEC Network.

Sponge Bob Squarepants would be an upgrade from Holtz. Though, I’d bet SS makes a lot of money in commentary..and I’ll enjoy most of it.

Dear God, I ask for few things in life. Yes, I repeatedly ask to win the Lottery..but you have taught me patience in waiting so many years for that to happen. Yes, I ask for a UGA National Championship … but you have taught me understanding in the fact that only one team can win and most often, it won’t be ours. But seriously, I need you to grant me this one prayer – Make Steve Spurrier the color commentator for all CBS games of the week. There simply could be nothing better than his “completely impartial” opinion on the goings-on with the players in each game.

There would be sooooooo many drinking games we could create.

And please be with the starving pygmies in New Guinea. Amen.

I saw this on Twitter last night. Radi Nabulsi seems convinced he’s headed to Auburn, even though he’s put UGA and Auburn at the top of his list. I don’t know anything about the young man, but if he comes to us, hopefully he’s lights out. If he goes to Auburn, hopefully Boom doesn’t realize his true talents!

That was a fun read. Chicken Littles running around with their heads cut off was the image that came to mind, if you’ll allow me to mix metaphors.

How on God’s green earth that we’ve managed to lose to SCU 3 of the past 4 years is utterly beyond me. Just embarrassing.

      Couple reasons, IMO

      1) SOS’s seething hate for UGA as a program
      2) We play them early in the year when their expectations are sky high and they haven’t yet quit. If we played them in November last season we bury them

And we play them early after a tough opener as well

Well, last year they played TAMU for their opener while we played Clemson. In 2012, we played Buffalo while they played on the road against a solid Vandy team that went on to an 8-4 record. In 2010, we played Louisiana Lafeyette while they played E. Carolina.

Other than 2011 when we opened with Boise State, the opening matchups for each team have essentially been a push if not slightly favoring SCU in terms of tough opening week opponents.

I’m aware of those reasons but they shouldn’t matter. Given our vast inherent advantages over SCU, we should beat them at least 70% of the time.

        • I don’t know what the numbers are, but I bet over the last 20 years, its close to 70%.

But in more recent years, its either even (last 10 years) or overwhelmingly SCU (last 4-5 years). I really don’t care about the 90’s and early 00’s when SCU was a complete dumpster fire.

Who has beaten them 70% of the time since they hired Spurrier? especially since he got his guys on board. Dude can flat out Coach…

SC had some really good talent 2010 through 2013. It wasn’t just us it was beating.

Steve Spurrier is turning into Bobby Bowden or Joe Paterno. Long successful track record with a long slow decline into mediocrity with still an occasional flash of brilliance (usually against us) that keeps them coming back.

Yeah, but Auburn has shiny new facilities and an IPF. Oh,….SC does too? But, but…why? He would play at SC, not so much guaranteed at UGA and Auburn will tell him anything. Can we fast-track an IPF ? How about putting in the sod and covering temporarily with a circus tent that’s artfully decorated so our new recruits don’t pass on us because of the dรฉcor? Jerry Jones did that when Texas Stadium was being built, didn’t he? Until they had a windstorm. Ay-yi-yi! What do we do now?

Them South Carolinians went way south this time. All they have to do is install his son as Coach-in-Waiting and say that Spurrier will be there beyond their graduation. Dumbasses.

I tend to listen to Nabulski since he favors the Dawgs and doesn’t try to be a Debbie Downer. Doesn’t mean I like all his calls, but he doesn’t call’em by trying to seek favor with a team.

I am sure Steve took the SC job with the intent of embellishing his reputation by winning an SEC title there, and that is looking very, very, unlikely. Secondly, he would have loved to be able to dictate handing the reins to his son. That also looks like it is history as well. He made the 2-3 year comment off-handedly and now the topic of his leaving is on the front burner and will not go away. This recruiting class will not come back regardless of his revisions, and that pretty much seals his fate. His hip is getting worse each year, and now his attitude is as well. Steve will have to settle for his one East crown as the SC crazies are now turning on him and will sour his legacy even more. The best shot SC had was the last two years and they yielded nothing. It won’t be long.

By the by, did anyone notice Richt limping in the bowl game and seemingly supporting himself at the trophy table after the game? Looked like he was favoring his hip and noticeably grimmacing. How long ago was his replacement? Anyone?

Meh, they aren’t even that much of a basketball school.

  7. His home town is Johnson City Tennessee. Kinda thought he might be HC at TN before he retired. SC looks like his last stop as an SEC Coach. Would love to see him take Lou Holtz’s place. That would be so entertaining. He may not be sharp enough, although it would not be that difficult if they could get him to stick to a script. ๐Ÿ’พ๐ŸŽˆ

Steve, be scripted? Not a chance, and that is what makes even those who dislike him give him some grudging admiration. While he was born in Johnson City, he never even acknowledges that fact publically, nor privately, from my experience. I think when he hit the road for college in Gainesville, he never looked back. And even my TN friends have never mentioned him during their coaching searches, almost like it is a urban legend and there is no video to prove it. Strange actually.

      • Mac, they all have a outline to keep them on track. They do not have a verbatim script, but guidelines on the monitor. Otherwise, it would be confusing for us and them. ๐Ÿ’ป ๐ŸŽˆ

You don’t know Steve, he isn’t going to stay on anyone’s leash…no filter. They may determine the subject matter but he will speak independently.

Joy, how can you wonder if Steve’s “sharp enough”! He’s sharp as a tack! If Holtz can hold that job, Mr. Ed could..(if you remember Mr. Ed).
