”That’s not the way football was meant to be played.”

It sounds like illegal man downfield is the new black 10-second substitution rule.

I bet Bert keeps his head down for this one, though.

The offensive coaches are laughing and joking, the defensive coaches are hollering “Deal dammit, deal.” Since Georgia runs a morally correct offense, not one a these commie, pinko offenses, I am all for this.

Hello, might I remind you that we run a tunnel screen and some bubble screen and sometimes it’s a close call at 3 yards as our Oline is running down field. The Oline/WR coaches are going to have to change the rhythm on these plays to insure the receiver is not over the line of scrimmage and we’re called for lineman down field. This will hurt the spread running attacks worst because their Olineman are always down field when the QB pulls up to pass. Tech AU etc are going to be screaming about this one. What I would really like is a ref crew that would call offensive pass interference on the damn down field blocking the eligible receivers are doing on each pass play. Tech throws to one receiver and all the rest of them are engaged with the DBs. This is a penalty that is called less that holding in the SEC.

It’s ok for linemen to be downfield when the ball is caught behind the line. This change won’t impact tunnel screens.

      I like the rule.

It’s crap when you see Aubbie’s whole o-line downfield, the QB and RB running around in an option look, plus one of their gigantic receivers rumbling 20 yards down the sideline.
