I got your donor support right here.

Call it a tale of two priorities.

Let no one accuse Butts-Mehre of not knowing where its bread is buttered.

UPDATE:  That reserve fund will need a lot of support, too.

UPDATE #2:  If you’re looking for an explanation for the IPF price tag, Seth Emerson can shed some light for you.

As for the location, the focus now is on the area just beyond the football team’s current outdoor practice fields, off of Lumpkin Street, and leading up to Stegeman Coliseum. It would likely force the removal of the Hoke Smith annex and its parking lot, among other things.

That area is owned by UGA and not the UGA athletics association, which are two separate entities financially.

“It’s not within our fence line,” McGarity said of the proposed site. “It complicates things.”

Dang.  They might need two donations.

In their mind, it’s the same priority. If you are looking for donor support for the IPF, you have to keep the donors happy.

Sounds like they’re looking at the Hoke Smith Annex. The cost estimate might include demolition and relocation of whatever is housed there.

Doesn’t appear to be the case. The facility itself will likely not be much different than UF’s. The rest smells like a fund-raising project for the university.

The parking lot and wooded area between the r smith building and the baseball field would work. I would guess it’s mostly athletic property

Why not at the club fields behind the golf course on Milledge? Bus ’em over if need be – it’s10 minutes away.

Greg has been told to get it moving apparently. A few months ago I would never have thought he would be talking about a $30 million dollar outlay. Who pulled the trigger on this?

Why not put the IPF where the track is located? It needs to be near BM and current practice fields. Baseball can even use the thing if you keep it in that area. Move the track over somewhere at east campus.

With the vet school moving out to College Station Rd I wondered what will happen to that location. It’s not adjacent to B-M, but really close.

    • The ABH covered its future uses in the articles leading up to the ribbon cutting of the new facility.

The old school will be focused more on pre-vet types and will be turned into labs and classrooms. The new facility’s clinical space (scanners, holding areas for the animals, etc) sounds pretty advanced.

Funny Czar Adams had no problem dipping into athletics for funding…
