What Nick Chubb did on his spring break.

Welp, there’s at least one Georgia player I don’t expect to hear any suspension news about.

Although I’d feel better if he said something derogatory about Sharpies.

This kid will have our opponents more nervous than a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

My best calculation is a metric shitload.

Since those are bumpers plates its hard to tell, but i’d guess 225, maybe 245. But he can clearly do much more. Great form, the squat portion looked easy.

You’re probably right about the weight, but it could be 255 because 10# & 15# bumper plates are pretty much identical.

Gotta take issue with you on the form though. His knees aren’t driving out, his weight is on the front of his feet, and he’s pronating. Unfortunately it’s not surprising; the state of weightlifting in college sports is pathetic. I’ve had the chance to lift with quite a few guys who played football in school (no one noteworthy) and the lack of proper form is pretty much universal. The first team to step up and hire Kelly Starrett as strength coach is going to steamroll everyone and probably see a big reduction in injuries.

Kelly Starrett has no business being a S&C coach on the collegiate level, sorry. A mobility/rehab guy or consultant, sure. There are FAR better S&C guys in the collegiate ranks than the Crossfit community (which I assume you are a part of) thinks there is. Matt Wenning is head and shoulders better (if you are looking for someone “outside” of collegiate S&C).

Your Crossfit is showing, try to clean that up a bit…

Disclaimer: I like Crossfit and I own a fairly successful S&C gym, but general fitness and preparing athletes for sport are 2 completely different things.

Yeah, I don’t crossfit. Kstar is extremely well respected in the powerlifting community (of which I am a part of) for his work on form and injury prevention. I have no interest in “functional fitness”.

              What’s your total?

And KStar is not a prevalent member of the Powerlifting world…unless you mean he has some USAPL nutswingers, who don’t count by the way…

KStarr is incredibly knowledgable in mobility and rehab, no argument there at all. But a S&C genius he is not.

If there are far better guys in collegiate S&C, why is Chubb lifting like that?

He was lifting at his high school, and 2. If you knew anything about collegiate S&C, or sports performance at all, you would know that he is getting his work in and spending time working in becoming a better RB, NOT becoming a better lifter. His squat cleans (and by the way that’s what those were, they were not power cleans) were just fine by a non lifting focused athlete.

I love it when guys who work out a little bit start criticizing athletes who are superior in every way possible. And then you say KStar is the next Buddy Morris…that’s just laughable.

I’m not trying to be difficult, but I just can’t let that comment go. It’s absurd.

          • Yea, he’s definitely not a cross fitter because, if he was, he would have made sure to preface his comment with that information, as well as include it in his signature line.

    4.39? Are you shitting me?

A kid that size, at that speed, is going to atomize some poor cornerback if he gets a full head of steam.

Best work ethic in a RB since, well, you know who. I’m not going to jinx him and put a name to it.

What also stands out to me is the talk with the kids not acting right. Leadership. Take it to the team. DGD!
