So powdered alcohol is closer to being a thing.
A powdered alcohol intended to be mixed up into drinks has gained approval from a federal regulator.
The product, called Palcohol, had received the greenlight from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau briefly last year before the bureau backtracked and said the label approvals had been given in error.
On Wednesday, bureau spokesman Tom Hogue told The Associated Press the issues were resolved and that four varieties of Palcohol were approved.
That’s approval on the federal level only, mind you. States are still free to ban the product, if they so choose. And some already have. What are they worried about? Among other things,
Concerns have included abuse by minors… and whether Palcohol’s light weight would make it easy to sneak alcohol into public events…
I think that’s a big “yes”, there.
What happens if you snort it?

“Somehow, the powder turned straight into glue when it hit my sinuses. I was immediately plugged up. The fumes burned inside my nose, but only for the first minute or so. After that came an uneasy numbness. Maybe all the nerve endings were dead. There was no one left to sound an alarm.

Unless Buffalo Trace gets in on this action, I don’t care.

Lots of good BOURBONS out there, I have my favorites, but always enjoy trying new ones….still don’t see how powered alcohol could have all that much quality/taste. See powered milk for proof.

Milk is a complex colloid with fats, proteins and all sorts of other chemicals. Ethanol is 2 carbons, 6 hydrogens and an oxygen. Should be indistinguishable from everclear when mixed with whatever.

So no flavor, count me out….but your point is taken.

Elmer T Glee is a nice new addition to the line of smooth bourbons I have tried this winter. Made by the same distillers as Buffalo Trace. I cut Buffalo Trace a little, but drink Elmer T on the rocks, just one opinion.

And this….THIS is another reason I read this blog. Thanks, Mac. I’ll add that to my list. Have you tried Eagle Rare?

I was thinking people would swallow it straight. Remember the straw shaped things of powdered sugar candy?

I understand that intense lobbying at the state legislature has already begun against this stuff by the wholesale liquor distributors. It may be approved by the Feds but before it can be sold in Georgia it has to be licensed.
