wife and I discussed last night over dinner. Neither of us felt that comfortable about this. Was part of a larger conversation about people asking for money these days and how often you get an ask.
Anyway, good for the people who want to give.
We both agreed that if we were CMR, we would write him a personal check for $5k and ask him to take down the gofundme page.
Several years ago there was a page for Michael Lemon and his younger brother when their mother was killed that raised around $70k. 2 years later he got kicked off the team. Anybody know what became of him? Hope he was able to turn it around one day.
The story didn’t mention it, but all appearances point to the place not having smoke detectors, or at least adequate ones. Although there was an extinguisher – that didn’t work. Can’t give this coach high grades for common sense when it came to the safety of his family. Hope he learned a valuable lesson. Whatever funds are raised, I hope his first purchase will be some trustworthy smoke detectors to ensure the safety of his family.
“... Shoot, why does anybody who’s ever won something do it again? Because it’s cool. So, let’s go do it again. Let’s see if we’ve got what it takes.” -- Stetson Bennett, The Athletic, 3/22/22
Serious question for anyone who knows: Would this sort of assistance be permitted by the NCAA if it happened to a player instead of a coach?

Would have to get NCAA approval I’m guessing … Conley got a gofundme approved to make his last Star Wars tribute movie

Thanks for the post. Glad he and his family are safe … and that Dawg fans are giving!

He didn’t set up the page. A church did.

He played at NC State, but I’m not sure what happened to him after that.
