Lorenzo Carter describes the mad scientist at work.
“All three of us can play multiple positions on the field, and we were all actually out there together a couple of times last year. It was crazy, and this year is going to be even crazier, because I’m more comfortable, Leonard is going to be back at 110 percent and Jordan is getting better and better.
“We’ve got a lot of different things that we can show an offense. With Coach Pruitt, he could move an end to noseguard and then all the way to safety. It’s crazy.”

Indeed. Not exactly mad scientist stuff there … but KISS would have worked just fine in Jax.

Apparently I missed Coach Pruitt at a restaurant here in Fort Payne, AL by 5 minutes last week. Still kicking myself.

It is the exact sentiments expressed by Lorenzo that gives me confidence that Pruitt will find a way to shore up the inside defensive weakness against the run that contributed greatly to two of the three losses we had in 2014. He seems to bring a number of different ways to attack from different angles using several groupings of attackers. CPJ has so much talent on the perimeter and in the secondary that he will find combinations to shore up this vulnerability. The complexity of his defense is what I had expected when we switched to the 3-4 with Grantham’s arrival, but never saw.

Carter, Floyd & Jenkins sounds like a law firm that can lay the wood. I can’t wait to see those guys get after whoever ends up as USCe’s very inexperienced QB. Combined with a secondary who improved dramatically during 2014, I like our ability to defend teams’ passing games. Now if we can just make sure we set the edge consistently against zone read teams …

These guys really have the potential to do some great things, maybe even the best lb’s in the nation, just gotta work as hard as a 1 star trying to make the team. Can’t have any sense of entitlement, gotta earn the attention with productivity, if they do, all could be 1st round draft picks someday. Gotta stop the run AND rush the passer. Gotta be a high motor guy.
