Maybe for the rest of us sad sacks.. but for him. I doubt it…

He also noted that this is not the case if you play for the New England Patriots.

Not sure when the trend began, but the big, strong, fast tailback types began playing interior LB, free safety, etc. Ernie Simms at FSU was one of those. Big bad ass TB that was switched to defense in college. Gurley is/was an anomaly in a world of smaller, shiftier running backs.

Jax, are you intimating Erk was right about Herschel playing defense?

That is because most of them end up being more like Richard Samuel than Gurley / Chubb. You can be big, strong, and fast, but it doesn’t mean anything if you fall down every time someone hits your leg. The big, strong, and fast guys with balance are rare, but it sure is a pleasure to watch them.

Herschel’s interview was awesome. His praise of Chubbs reinforced how special of a back Chubbs is.

The ubiquitous pictures of Herschel looking ridiculously ripped at 50+ were reinforced by the picture of him beside Chubb: Chubb is a complete beast, but he looked positively puny next to Number 34.
