The NCAA, with malice towards none

This is rich – the organization that compared the McNair investigation to that of the Oklahoma City bombing is now miffed enough to whine, “It is unfortunate that Mr. McNair’s unfounded claims have resulted in an attack on the character and integrity of dedicated individual committee members and the overall infractions process.”

Poor babies.

I’d almost say someone displays a perverse sense of humor here, but who am I kidding?  This is the NCAA.  It’s just the same old tone-deaf assholery we’re accustomed to.

The poor bastards who have to read, and probably understand this stuff should get a raise. I know a lot of folks say legal language is obscure and dense on purpose. My personal suspicion is that not all lawyers write well.

“underwent thorough deliberations consistent with the policies and procedures governing the infractions process.”

I had that discussion with my academic advisor, Boyd McWhorter. The discussion was not terribly productive.

  2. …old tone-deaf assholery we’re accustomed to. I got a chuckle out of that but it was a very short one after I thought about it. The NCAA has become a den of assholery. And it is apparently contagious.

Assholery is similar to masonry, in that both are primarily concerned with putting up walls, shutting others out, hiding things, providing shelter to that which is vulnerable, and protecting that which we can’t bear to see exposed.

See…some a these guys can write… Maybe they got a computer program that adds words for obfuscation when they are doing court filings.

“words for obfuscation” – I thought we couldn’t outright talk porn here since we know it when we see (or read) it.

Kind of like launching an attack on Atlantis…except that Atlantis may have actually existed at one time.
