The future’s so bright…

A little porny, perhaps, but you’ve got to like the implications of a list of Georgia’s top five playmakers on offense in which four of them are true sophomores.

Dawgporn in April. Reminds me of the dogwood blossoms on Prince Avenue back in the day…

Will you show the huge ginkgo tree later? That’s one of the memories of Prince; that and the walkup place to buy a “membership” card and join the club to make you eligible to buy barbecue sandwiches in a place that was across the street from black citizen’s housing on the Atl hwy. It gave management a chance to see that you were white. The vet friend of mine who became a UGA barrister (Law Review) grad intentionally walked up to tell them he grew up in Athens and that they could kiss both our asses.

Fortunately, that place burned to the ground the night that Dr M L King was killed.

While I deplore the actions of the owners of that establishment I am troubled by the tone of your post which implies that the place was burned down on purpose, as a result of arson prompted by MLK’s death, and that you approve of the arson.

Not only that, but my friend and I discussed that I might be the first one to put a flaming arrow in to it for it’s arrogance toward a greater part of the Athen’s community that surrounded it. If I have given you the impression that I was above that at that time, then my communications haven’t hit the mark.

I lived uphill from the place and saw the first flames licking at it when the AFD drove up because I was on alert outside after getting the car stoned while returning from the movies with our friends. We heard of the assassination from the car radio. I did place a “Press” card in my fedora and walked right past the firemen for a close shot of the flames. It only shows a red flame and you can’t see much else, but I continue to leave that little reminder in my photos.

And please don’t misunderstand me. At an earlier date, my friend and I had just taken a long hike with wives in the No Ga mts and walked up to get some good Southern BBQ at their establishment when we returned. When we were asked for our “membership” card that qualified us to be in those chosen to be good enough to eat there, my friend laconically asked where to get the IDs that would let us eat at their chosen place. They directed us to a house on Prince where you had to walk about 70 feet to the doorway to their “office” so that they might tell the color of our skin. That was enough for us to know we didn’t want to eat in a place that remained as a sore spot daring people to do something about it. As two people who had come back to school after the service, we previously had been part of social thinking where it’s good enough for fellow Athenians/Georgians to go die for their country, but not good enough to eat anywhere one liked upon return. That thinking changed drastically for many of us who had grown up in Georgia and loved everything about it enough to try and change things after Service. Yep, I was pissed off enough at the time to put a flaming arrow into the joint, but someone else beat me to it.

We even were mixed into the political fabric in Athens ; enough to be on a slate of candidates that proposed candidates to run against Lester Maddox (shock, AHD, we were working for the Republican Party at that time).

  2. Unfortunately three of them were constructed entirely out of porcelain. Beautiful but fragile.

Lucky for me, I was reading this in the restroom. If I smoked, I’d need a cigarette right now.

That is impressive to consider two more years with 4 members of that bunch. I’ll still take a good memory year of Rome and a few others waiting to make this team and making their presence known in the college football world.

Nice list but we all know our TEs are under-utilized, because Richt just wants to chuck it deep. So Blazevich shouldn’t be on the list. Looks like a 5-7 season ahead, but Richt will never get fired…

Isn’t that how it goes? 😉

I realize you were joking but if CMR has a 5-7 season he will be fired. No joke.

You need to stay on your previous talking points. The other day, under one of your other aliases, you kept pounding the point that Richt’ s teams only thrive when they run the ball well, throw it deep, and play great defense. To preserve the .001% credibility you have on here, you really should stay consistent with your rediculous rants.
