“My goal is to be a freak of nature.”

Georgia couldn’t promote Todd Gurley for the Heisman, but this is a nice sendoff for the NFL Draft:

I enjoyed that.

Wow, what a talent. I’m lucky to have seen him play, but what could have been last season without the suspension and if he had returned this fall. Sigh…

  2. Very cool, although it freaked me out a little when it said “Thursday April 20th” for the draft and I thought for a moment I had missed it.

If there was a single game in his entire career where he wasn’t obviously the best player on the field, I can’t remember it.

Most of the greats, you go see them play and you know they’re going got be awesome, but you just hope you’re going to be there to witness when they do something really special. He did it every time. Every single game he pulled at least one play off where your jaw just dropped to the floor.

Scary thing is that Chubb has done the same thing since taking the reigns. I think that’s where the comparisons are coming from; it’s the ‘wow’ factor that both exude in their respective games.

My favorite play was when he ran through/over those Vanderbilt players for a touchdown in 2012.

I especially liked the 2nd half against Clemson last season. It was like at the half Gurley decided enough of this screwing around. Let’s put this game away, and he did.

I think he may actually be under appreciated to a degree. Having Chubb be such a beast in his absence may make some underestimate just how good he was. I think with the passage of time we may really get it. And I say that knowing that most of think he was great already.

It was an honor to have wear Red and Black, and even he screwed up, he rose above it with the way he handled himself like a man. TG deserves the best of breaks from here on out He just never disappoints in the game as he delivers so many big plays, in so many ways. The man runs angry,, like no one I have seen before. Good luck Todd, I hope you get sent to a good organization via this draft.

  8. The guy is just absolutely outstanding between the white lines. When he took that kick back against Auburn, rarely have I seen Sanford light up like that. What goes unnoticed is how he handled the celebrity on campus. My now 15 year old saw him on campus last summer while she was at a camp. She asked him if he was Todd Gurley, he said yes, and she showed him a picture of our 2 dogs, Todd and Marshall. He got a kick out of it and gave her a hug right there while he was on his way to work out. She said it was like being squeezed by a brick wall.

I’m glad you said that Timphd. I think there is a tendency to under appreciate a Gurley and Chubb is the reason why. Don’t get me wrong, I love Chubb and am glad we have him. But it bugged me when last season people were already saying that Chubb was better than Gurley. I couldn’t believe it. Not here, but people that I know. I think a lot of people don’t realize how good he really was.

While I think Chubb will surpass Gurley’s numbers before he leaves UGA, I can’t say that he’ll be remembered as being “better” than him. Gurley just has more flash and explosiveness when he runs. Sure am glad we got Chubb, though.

Todd is the only player that has ever made both my dad and grandfathe rwaiver on the idea that Herschel was the best player they have each ever witnessed. Just a special football player. Not bad for a 4* runningback that played in the Semper-Fi Bowl out of HS.

I have no idea where Gurley will go in the draft or when he will be drafted. He’s got that one thing that portends greatness…heart.

And yo, #3…Tom Brady was the 199th player drafted the year he left Michigan…if you got heart and want to…it don’t matter what number you are, your number will get called.

Thanks for the chill bumps, Todd.

I love Chubb, but this guy was/is a twice in a lifetime player…..Got to see ’em both live and both changed games. Hershel and Gurley…….2 of the best college running backs ever if not the best. Thanks to both of you for the memories; you will always be welcome in Sanford!!!!!

I was at #34’s last game in Athens in ’82. Todd was a fair comparison with him. I thought he was the best RB in the SEC since Herschel and Bo. Yet, I actually think it’s Chubb who is underrated, because of Todd’s flash.

Had Todd stayed healthy and not had the suspension, I really think we’d have won some SEC titles with him. I think we might have won it in 2013. We never really seemed to lose a game in which he was fully healthy. His absence against Clemson in ’13 made all the difference for about a 25 minutes. We would have destroyed Mizzou and Vandy with him. I hate that he and we missed out on a full 3 years. He was as fun a player to watch as I’ve ever seen. I always felt like, “Well, we’ve got Todd Gurley, so we’ll win.”

However, during the Auburn game, I had this strange feeling. I felt better about our offense with Chubb in the game. Todd was, of course, still getting in game shape. But, Chubb’s numbers are staggering. He was more durable and more dependable. Todd had some games where he wasn’t very productive his freshman year. Nick just didn’t have one. Nick does not have Todd’s breakaway speed, but he’s fast enough. Lord, how many 50+ yard runs did the kid have?

How blessed we’ve been to have these two back to back! But I feel just like I did with Todd. Every team we face this season does not have Nick Chubb, and we do.
