Ready and steaming…
- Here’s a look at the post-spring SEC quarterback situation.
- Georgia’s incoming freshman Trent Thompson “becomes the team’s second biggest defensive lineman the minute he steps on campus.” Yeah, he’s got a good chance of playing this season.
- If you can’t get a second chance at Second Chance U, where can you?
- Florida’s Dante Fowler, Jr., on Todd Gurley: “What gets me about him is how fast he is. He’s a big guy so you would think that he’s slow, but he’s even faster in person than what he looks like on TV. We had a mean defense. We had Sharrif Floyd, Dominique Easley, Matt Elam—three first-round draft picks—and we had a top-five defense in the country. To see what he was doing to us, as a freshman, I was like, man, this guy is going to be something else.”
- The New York Times has a great piece on what’s happened to the members of the NFL’s first round draft class of 1990. It’s sad to see Ben Smith’s story.
- Nick Saban explains what up-tempo offenses have done to Alabama’s secondary, and how he’s working to fix that. (It’s been downhill since Jeremy Pruitt left.)
- Ben Jones talks about his favorite memory at Georgia, Jacob Eason, Mark Richt and more here.
- It’s insidious, but I fear I’m coming to like Jim McElwain. Bastard.
The NYT piece is a very interesting read. Thanks for posting it.

It was nice catching up with Rodney Hampton on the where are they now NFL piece. He is a DGD.
McElwain seems to be a solid guy, as you said, it will be hard to dislike him.
Auburn is having their troubles, I hate it but hey, it’s Auburn.

Never realized Hampton was from Houston and lives here now. I’ve never noticed his face on any billboards around here, but then I’m not usually looking for bail bond services. Aaron Bonding is still my favorite, where it’s “always springtime at Aaron Bonding”. (A friend in college got one of their shirts after using their services.)

My Auburn student got a MIP in Athens 3 weeks before his 21st birthday. Was doing nothing wrong, but admitted to the cop he’d had 2 beers. Awkward telling your kid he screwed up by not lying. But he did come home with the very cool “Bond..James Bond” t-shirt after making bail! His younger brothers fought over it…..

People have a hard time grasping this, but you should never, ever talk to the police. Even if you’re a perfect citizen and haven’t done anything wrong, if a cop starts asking you questions, you politely decline.
Talking to the police can only hurt you, not help you.

Excellent advice for our 2 rising sophomores. Never under(or over) estimate the UGA/ACCPD gestapo.

Appreciating a rival team’s coach is an annoying conflict of interest.
It will be interesting to see how the QB situations impact each team this fall. It feels like a race to coach’em up. If all ends equal, I like our chances due to our running back situation.

I’ll reserve appreciation of McElwain to see what happens when the transfers actually start rolling out. If he lets them go free and clear without any non-conference restrictions, I’ll begrudgingly tip my hat.

Yeah. Let one or two be O-line players and we would get an idea how he really feels.

Hey, Scorp! Your boy, Ben Jones, is reflectin’ the name and continues what we all hope for all playing alums; loyal Bulldogs to the end. He certainly reflects all the positive notes of his time at UGA and is complimentary to the staff for his football knowledge. Ben is a good ole boy.
The Texans just got a new pair of watchin’ eyes.

Hopefully some of their O-Line (or what’s left of them) want to transfer
