Now this is all in.

Not dismayed in the slightest by running close to a $13 million deficit in the last fiscal year, Auburn’s athletic department has infrastructure plans on the table that look like they’ll exceed $200 million in costs.

Senator, you’re forgetting about how all the coaching severance payments are winding down, so Auburn has new found money available for all kinds of construction and COA initiatives;-)

Of course, Gus has had his miracle season already, so it they lose 4-5 games this season, including to us and Alabama, he’ll be well positioned to get fired after they faceplant to a losing season in 2016 (because if you wanna coach the Barn, that means getting fired at some point.)

In case the COA advantage isn’t enough, Coach Dye is lobbying the state to bring back those “lucky” slot machines for the ath-a-letes.

God bless them. Hope they run their program into bankruptcy.

“82-year-old Betty L. Myers of Mobile, Ala., is seen through the Auburn logo as she waits near the head of the line to meet coach Gene Chizik as Auburn University hosts Fan Day 2011 Sunday, August 14, 2011.”

Setting aside the fact that deficits or current file photos don’t matter at Auburn, I think that shot is a fake b/c 82 y/o Betty L Myers of Mobile looks an awful lot like Bobby Bowden. Betty still thinks Gene is wandering around somewhere in the Wellness Kitchen

Auburn doesn’t have a soul or brain for that matter. Spending like a drunken sailor.

    “exceed $200 million in costs”

The creative accounting of some of these schools is mind boggling. They move all kinds of money around to show a loss, and then shift it all back when it comes to the arms race.

To be fair to the Barners, the $85K they put in the collection plate in Newnan was tax deductable.

How long before the first story breaks with financial aid office workers complaining of athletic office/booster meddling? Or before a quiet reshuffling of aid office staffs?
