This has to be a bummer for the editors at the AJ-C.
Of course, with what we know about the Georgia Way, the school may think about issuing press releases when an athlete’s involved.
Still, progress of a sort.

Starting July 1st, police in Athens will not take students into custody for underage drinking. They'll receive a citation/$300 fine instead.

Read the fine print, the ACC prosecutor has a plan, you just overcharge them so you can book them. What the hell deterrent is there without a perp walk.

Will there still be suspensions?

I believe that this could loosen things up a bit since the stance was always arrest = suspension. now no arrest will actually happen.
I wonder if they will still issue the fine if you call about a friend being in medical danger because of drugs or alcohol.

Senator, speaking of great policing, did you notice that the Tallahassee police department redacted the name of a football player from the police report sent to ESPN, but not the name of the victim.

Is public urination an arrest or citation these days?

Depends upon whom you are urinating on. Guess there’s a few around that would get you a commendable citation. No Scooters! It makes the Fing trademark run.

Hell…we might even be tailgating on North Campus again here shortly.

PLEASE! Auburn/Bama/Ole Miss can tailgate on quads on campus without trashing it b/c someone has made it logistically feasible. Somebody needs to put in the work to make it happen in Athens.

Is this the UGAPD, too? Or just the ACCPD?
The former already holds press conferences to brag about their latest athlete arrests.

We ain’t outta the woods yet… Ath-Fest is this weekend & they still have 5 more nights to get thru.
Maybe Richt should load ’em up & take them to Jefferson or Madison & sequester them until Tues. night. ACCPD & Williamson’s bunch of stormtroopers are gonna be looking hard for FB players since this is their last weekend to bust someone & immediately call the AJC…
Wonder if they’ll still call Chip Towers if they write just a ticket?? You know they wanna go out with a bang…
